Couple of weeks back the notice came for my wife's AOS interview. We are presently assembling the appropiate paperwork to bring to the interview and have this behind us. While doing this, we encountered a suprise - an NOA that somehow went unopened stating that the FBI wasn't able to process her fingerprints and that she'd need to come in for another biometrics appointment for a date now two months passed. There was a warning stating that the case would be considered abandoned if this was appointment was not met.

Well, since the elapse of that date, I got an RFE for tax documents - which I successfully submitted and saw that my case was returned to processing, along with receiving the notice for the AOS interview. If the biometrics were apparently in error and our case would be considering abandoned considering she never went to the follow-up re-fingerprinting appointment, why are we being told that we are to appear for an AOS interview? Are we somehow in the clear on the fingerprinting business? I'm not sure I should even bring this topic up with USCIS at this point.

Also, on the original copies front - I'm assuming they want originals/copies of everything needed to assemble the I-485 package, in addition to the other specified items. Well, I don't have originals of the G-325a's or all of my I-864 package (income support info was print outs of balances at a certain date, etc.) I'm not too concerned about the I-864 stuff, but the G-325a perhaps I should be? Or should I just be concerned in general?

Wow, not opening an NOA about something so serious! :o It is a mystery also about you getting an interview date, regardless of the missed biometrics appointment. I would call up USCIS about it (phone number on the NOA) anyway, and ask. Maybe you can still take in the NOA and get another biometrics done, I have heard of people just walking in earlier than their appointments, and it gets done.

As for originals, they mean things like marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc., so I would not be too concerned. Of course you sent in the originals of the actual applications like I-864 and G-325A, you can just bring in copies of them, just in case they misplaced it or something. Most important for the interview of course, is originals and copies of proof of relationship.
