First,

I would like to say that this site has been immensely helpful as I prepare all the forms to get my wife here from Nicaragua. I have found answers to almost all of my questions except one. I have searched but couldn't seem to find an answer for what to do if your spouse's address is in a foreign language and it's landmark based. Do you have to translate the address into English or can I leave it in Spanish? Anyone familiar with Central American addresses will understand why this is an issue. Our address in Managua is from the hardware store, 1 block west, 1 block south, blue house on the left. If I put that on the form and the government tries to send mail to that address she'll never get it because it's in English. In Nicaraguan Spanish it's de la ferreteria, un cuadra arriba, un cuadra sur, casa en la izquierda. So, in a long winded manner I want to know if

1) Can I use addresses in Spanish on the I-130, G-325A & I-129F?

2) Can I use a post office box in Managua rather than a physical address?

I'll be in Managua next week so I can rent a PO box while I'm there. The PO box is preferable because the Nicaraguan mail system is "unreliable" at best when it comes to delivering mail to your house.

Thanks in advance!

Give the address exactly as you would do if sending mail. Only if the alphabet is other than Roman, do you need to attach a separate sheet. So, yes, give the address in Spanish.

My fiance is from San Juan del Sur and I had the same questions. I just put it exactly as if you would mail a letter to her. Once you get approved they will use that address so send her a list of things to get. Good luck!

I've also read some posts that say once you get NOA2 and your stuff has been sent to NVC you can call the embassy in Managua and ask to pick up any forms that they would send you right at the embassy, that should save a couple of weeks!

Sent I-129f to CSC: Sept 26, 2007

NOA2 email: Feb 7, 2008

NOA2 hardcopy received: Feb 12, 2008

NVC received: Feb 19, 2008

NVC sent: Feb 21, 2008
