Police Certificate aquisition issue

I gave my fiance the following directions which i literally copied and pasted form the forums:

To obtain a Police Certificate in the UK, go to your local police station and request a form called "Subject Access". Send send this with the £10 fee to the Data Protection Officer of the police force for the area you are resident in.

He went and they sent him to: http://www.ico.gov.uk/

which is the most poorly designed website in the world! THe officer at the local station said to go there and submit an initial request to get the form sent to him, so that he can send it BACK.

.... IF that really is the case does ANYBODY know where on that horrible website it is buried, and secondly ... if that really is the case.. a request so that you can request information? How utterly... governmental. *sigh*

Any help would be HUGELY appreciated.

That's absolute rubbish. Each police station has its own set of forms and they should be able to give you a copy whenever you ask for it. I'd go back, or simply look up your fiance's local police constabulary online and look for the form on there.

You simply just fill in the form and send it off. Good luck!

I seem to remember i had to request the form be sent to me through some website. I just filled in a quick form online and then the actual paper form was with me in a few days, its quite easy actually but cant for the life of me remember what the website was!

Click on the link for your local police and they should have the forms for you to print out.

Just search for Subject Access.
