I think they want the form just to show them if we were married before or not

Because, you can not be married to 2 people at the same time

the form is gonna show if you are still married or divorced

( free to get married as they call it here in USA)

I guess that is because some countries allow you to be married to many persons

Hi VJ'ers,

I already got the CRS Form #5 Advisory for Marriage or the Cenomar from the NSO yesterday i ask favor with one of my friend.. And had it this morning..But my problem is my middle name that reflects on the list of marriage is not the correct one. Then the one after TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Be advised that the search for the name "--------------" -> my name stated here was correct including my middle initial.

So with this i went to civil registrar to ask why the one that reflects is M and not the H which is my correct middle initial. Then, whn the clerk look for my marriage certifcate that was filed in thr ofc the one stated is H also and not M.

So i guess that the one who got mistake here is the one who type the CEMAR. But they are insisting to me that this was the mistake of NSO Manila.. haaayyy naubos talaga pasensya ko sa kanila.. 2moro im planning to go thr again and talk to their Director i will just bring my original copy of marriage certificate coming from Civil Registrar. I hope the director can help me with this.. Since so clear naman in the NSO Marriage Certificate under where i signed that its H and not M..The vague portion lang is the topmost under wife of the contracting parties ..it look like M (mayb got distorted after scanning).

Then my another concern is under "issued upon the request of "_____________" <- stated here is the name of my friend and not mine-> for immigrant visa".. -> do u think this will create another big issue to the consul? And may cost delay?

Your inputs will highly be appreciated.

Thank you.

In my opinion.. You just have to have a document/affidavit that could backup the error on the other documents..

Like on my case.. On our Marriage Contract my nationality states Filipino same with my mother.

Which is wrong because were American Citizens.. Well before I filled I asked an immigration officer about the issue and they told me that it wouldn't matter since I have a US passport and a Certificate of Naturalization. They recognize does US docs more than the Philippines docs..

Plus I wanted to fix the issue, I took it to court to get it fix and paid money.. So I got my US docs to backup my Marriage Contract, plus I got a Court Order from the Court of the Philippines regarding the change.

Replied to your PM, Ness.

CENOMAR is just a typewritten document that can be corrected if you have all the supporting documents. If the marriage certificate is wrong in the beginning, then the only way for it to be corrected will be through court proceedings (you know how Manila is nowadays with everything needs to be processed through court hearings, etc). Otherwise, I do not foresee any problem correcting it by going to the NSO office to request for a corrected one.

As for the friend being on the CENOMAR as a requestor on your behalf. I think it will be best if you can have the document written requested by either the petitioner or beneficiary. The reason why they are requiring a lot of these documents is to make sure we do not do any shortcuts and that all documents are legitimate. Your CENOMAR may be valid based from the information on there, however, if you are the applicant and you want to submit all the required documents, you wanted to show to them that you are the one who is requesting for it for your travel or immigration purpose, not someone else.

Good luck on your interview!

Let me just clarify few things here.

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE PLACED IN AP OR ANY DELAY, avail your CENOMAR.

The document is required with K visas and MAY also be asked from IR1/ CR1 applicants.

When you go to NSO, it is better to ask for CENOMAR since they will "ASSUME" you have no record of marriage. A CENOMAR becomes a CEMAR only when they show and released your document that shows a recorded marriage under your name. Thus, the document is now an authenticated CEMAR CRS# 5.

Hi Rina, does this mean that when I go to the NSO office, I would request for a CENOMAR form and since I am married the form that they would be releasing to me would be a CEMAR CRS#5? Am I right in thinking this?

In a way, it's good that the embassy added this to the required documents. Quite a few CR-1 applicants got put on AR while the embassy double checked for the info, and were delayed about a month. I talked to my wife yesterday and she will get the CEMAR in prep for her interview.

 Yes thats right. For whatever strange reasons, they know about the CENOMAR but not the CEMAR CRS#5. So when you request for it, ask for CENOMAR. Make sure all your information is correct before you leave the office so they can correct the error if you do find one.

 Whenever people ask me about the CENOMAR, even when married or the CO may never ask for it, I always advise to get it than to be placed in AP just to verify what you already know (background check).
