HELP! :help:

Somebody knows what would happen to all my documents which are in the famous sealed brown envelope when i am at the port of entrance in USA?

Will they just check it and give it all back to me or will they check it and keep it?

I ask because we plan to marry the first week I arrive, then we want right away to apply for AOS, but some of the original documents which are required for AOS apply

are in that envelope. Ah and i thought the stress part was done

I'm afraid it's bad news because they keep it. :(

I can't help you with ideas on how to get it back, pehaps someone else will come along who's been in a similar situation.

Good luck with everything.

Gillian

Thank you Gillian,

Yes bad news, the vox populi says they keep it. I feel so upset  that means to me "another divorce certificate, translate it, apostille it, new medicals, new everything! it was ein kampf to get most documents since I live in Sweden, but l am leaving for USA after tomorrow, I am Swiss, born in Mexico, divorced in Sweden. It means to me... again kind of international contacts to get my original documents... again.

I don't understand them it is so illogical!

Having heart attack-HELP!

My fiance's visa had been lost or stolen. The consulate is trying to find it. They mailed on Feb 5th New Zealand courier post with a track and trace thand the courier post has no record of it at all. The guard on duty at the consualte said it was not the normal pick up guy for courier post and that he did not scan it on the spot like they normally do. They don't even know the employee's name. Its a horrible mess and I'm panicing beyond panic. That has his visa, his passport, documents etc....... I think I am loosing the plot.

I can't believe this is happening.

Wow. That's bad. (*dons his Captain Obvious hat*)

I'm sure there won't be a problem with re-issuing passport and visa, after all it sounds like they're taking responsibility for it. The other documents will be harder to replace. In the meantime I'm not sure what kinds of identity-theft preventions are in place in NZ, but he should definitely check into that if he isn't already.

Hang in there, this is a setback but I don't think it will be a big setback. (F)

Ugh, that would freak me out too. But before you panic too much first off, as Mox said, find out what you need to do to protect from identity theft. That's most important.

Then find out what you need to do to get those documents duplicated (visa, passport etc.)

On the bright side, maybe it's a new guy and even though he didn't do what he was supposed to do, maybe it will still be delivered and everything will be ok. Try not to freak out yet.

I know that's easier said than done tho.

Good luck!!

Good News!!! We tracked down the missing VISA and my fiance now has it in his hands!! Today was such an ordeal. It took many phone calls, and a lot of pushing but we got the Courier Post to find the package and enter in in the system and deliver it! Turns out that employee never scanned it and it had been moving around and the central office was not able to locate it. We decided to ask them to call the local router in Wellington to see if there was any package at all on the van going to his address. Turns out there was. So we than called back the investigators and asked them to see if its our package. After hours of them not calling back, we decided to try the web site for the 50th time, and this time it showed picked up Feb 8 and out for delivery!!!!! Turns out that was out package on the truck and they finally scanned after much pushing. Here's the kicker. They asked if Dan would be home and he said yes, all day so he waited and waited and they were suppose to knock or ring the door bell and they didn't. So I check the web site again and it says it was delivered. I was like um honey? Check your mail box cause it says it was delivered an hour ago. So he checks and it was there. Mysterious brown do not open envelope too. YAY!!!! I am so happy. Now he can come on schedule with no hasstle (I hope). I am still ill, with back issues on on disability right now so it will be nice to have him here while I am on the mend. Hopefully I can go back to work in a 3 or 4 weeks but they seriously need to make progress with my back pain.

Thanks for the continued support, back to bed for me.

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I think there is a way, but I didn't bother with it... just sat tight and let it happen ;)

as you say, this stage of the process is so quick, compared with the rest, it's not worth stressing over in my opinion ;)

Yeah we did the same - I fail to see where and how and why they are going to store thousands of sometimes enormous packages to gather dust in some room somewhere... We included original documents and things as well as we thought that is what we were meant to do. Do we never get it back then? I think I Might ask about it at POE when I get to that stage - seems crazy that they would keep something if they no longer need it - maybe they return it post-AOS? Or if you naturalise? Grrr
