Julez - I'm sure he'll be fine too! I don't think the US is looking for a perfect race!! I think they are making sure we don't infect the country with gribbly diseases and lurgy!!

I'm sure that's part of it, but they also want to make sure people aren't going to end up being a public charge due to health issues. Which is actually ridiculous when you think about the fact that the US government does not provide us with healthcare. :ranting:

Which, rae, is exactly why he's so nervous. Though I do know of some diabetic VJers who are here in the US after a successful K1 interview. I can't see why Griff would be any differnet. He's extremely well controlled with his diabetes and has a letter from his doctor saying so. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Thanks for the support everyone!

Oh yeah, I totally agree he has nothing to worry about. I was just ranting about the fact that our healthcare system sucks. :P

OK. here let me explain.

When I called the DOS I was told my package was sent to the Embassy on Dec 19th.

When I did a search on DHL there were no records going to my Embassy with a reference of EXP 19 DEC 2007A so I did some checking.

When I looked at EXP 18 DEC 2007A I saw these packages left the NVC on Dec 19th.. Thus the reason that DOS said it was sent on the 19th.

I just looked at DHL for EXP 31 DEC 2007A.

According to the tracking information Ref # EXP 18 DEC 2007A for the London Embassy was shipped on Jan 2, and arrived on Jan 4.

Thus the reason that they said it was shipped on Jan 2.

I believe that this is your package.

Thanks, that clarifies it...

wow, i havent posted in quite some time...ive been on vacation, unfortunately NOT visiting my sweetie  but nonetheless i havent been sitting at work all day staring at the computer screen and posting on vj lol

so adriano has returned to albania (he was living in italy, for those of us keeping score) and has gathered all of the required packet 3 documents

i have also gathered all of the required documents on my end, and i mailed them to adriano today...they should arrive at his home in albania in about a week (yes, even express mail is THAT slow....unless i want to pay 150 bucks for fedex, i have to wait a week)...then we will FINALLY be sending in our packet 3...god i cannot wait for us to get that interview date...what a relief that will be!!!

oh, and rae, yes it is absolutely absurd that we do not have the right to healthcare in this country...one of the many things that i hope will change in the coming years

good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!

Welcome back!

I agree, I hope things will change, and I will especially have hope if Hillary is elected. I know it's too much to ask for our entire system to be overhauled and redone, like it should be... but *so* many things could be improved upon. It's good to see it's an important debate right now, but I honestly only thing things will change under a Democrat. Here's to hoping.

I work in the healthcare field and US is one of the most advanced medically. Unfortunately, it's not always available (or affordable) to everyone. But free healthcare or govt sponsored healthcare isn't necessarily the best healthcare. I can only base this on people who live and worked under such a system. Anyhow, I hope that whoever comes in makes it a change for the better. Cuz the healthcare delivery crisis is only gonna get worse.

I did not mean to imply that gov't sponsored healthcare is necessarily better. However, I've also lived in Canada, and some things were a lot better, and some things were not. I know it's not a perfect system. But the US is one of the only (the only?) modernized western nations that does not provide its citizens with healthcare, and I think that says something.

True....partly I feel it hasn't been much of a priority...our govt is too busy delving into other countries' affairs...

I think it should always be an option to have free healthcare... Those without insurance who can't afford to pay for it suffer unduly because of it or are left with a huge bill to pay for the sake of their life being saved... :(
