My fiance received his packet 3, and the instructions have 3 parts. We can't tell if he needs to send in part 1 by itself, or with part 2, or can part 2 be sent separatley. He can't get through to the consulate and we don't know what to do.

I have scanned the document so you can take a peak. The blue ink wih his name and tick marks came that way. That is what is confusing us, cause it looks kinda like one and two or ticked... but if you read part one, it looks like you have to send that first. Very confusing!! Please help, he only has today and tomorrow off to get it done.

Thanks so much.

Christine

Christine,

Yours is alot clearer than the Egypt one. We just finished our Packet 3 and mailed it today. We sent all in one packet to the Consulate. It did no say what forms shoiuld ot should not be sent like yours. We sent all. Anyway if you have i all ready send all at once. But I think either way is fine by reading your instructions. Here it is best to email the consulate and they email you an answer within 5 days.

Cheryl

The attachment is a jpg file, it should be readable. However in New Zealand the consulate gets your police record directly, the applicant does not get to see it until the interview. In fact the applicant is not even allowed to contact the police department directly, it clearly states that much on the form. The consulate contacts them on your behalf and obtains the report directly.

We just can't tell if you send part one first, or part one and two together, its all on an instruction page that reads like so... Fist complete your OF230 Biographical data together with your police release form (form that you give permission for the consualte to obtain your record from the police on your behalf) This office can not commence processing your case till this form is received.

Second, complete in duplicate the enclosed forms OF-156, Non-immigrant visa application online at www.... and complete the form before you download it - together with OF-156 and Form 156 (K) must be answered. Return these forms as soon as possible with a copy of your passport, and 4 passport type photos.

Third: Obtain the following documents in this checklist which pertain to you. Do not send them to this office. Note the documents listed are required for both your non-immigrant visa and the US department of Homeland security authorities when you apply for permanent resident status.

Than it has a cheklist etc... which we know is for the interview and not to be sent.

Part 1 and Part 2 have been marked with blue ink, we are not sure what that means and if they should be sent separately or not.

I still think that either way is fine. It does not take long to do the visa forms. So I would just complete them both Part one and Part two and send them back. They both go to the same place. They are just saying that they cannot continue processing your papers until they get the Police Record release form back. So as long as you can do both quickly I would send both together. However, if there is some reason you cannot complete the visa forms at this time go ahead and send he Police release form back alone so they can go ahead and request your record from the Police. Which ever works for you is fine. But if you are still unsure call or email the embassy.

I reread your JPG attachment and I think the blue tick marks are there to point out that those are the two items you need to do. In Cairo's packet 3 we did all those items and then some together. But as I said above it will not hurt either way. But if I had gotten that same letter I would do both and send both at same time. Just make sure your case number is included. You can make a cover sheet that has your names and case number on it to include with the packet. Every Embassy is different but I personally would send both one and two at same time. Hope this helps you.

Well, despite the fact that the Packet 3 mailed from London on Dec. 11th never reached my fiance didn't deter us from mailing the docs back to the Embassy on Dec. 21. However, with the Jan. 7th medical looming and not having those docs, Griff bit the bullet and called the extortion line. They gave him a special code to email the embassy to ask for a duplicate packet 3. He received the standard auto-reply that they'll act on his email in 3 - 4 days.

Fast forward to this morning. Griff is at work, the phone rings. Its the Embassy calling. They asked him since he's coming to London on Jan. 7th for the medical at 2:30, would he mind popping into the embassy at 07:30 for his interview that same day? OMG!!!! YES!!!! I can't believe it!!!! We are both so excited since this means we can get married on Feb. 16th as planned!!!

Haha - I think 6 weeks is a little hopeful! To be honest I think I would freak if I got it before - it makes better financial sense now to wait until June so I can be with my mum on her 50th and not have to fly back and forth too much or risk missing it if AP takes forever :/

It's a little lame but at least now we know we will defo be together at the end of June, we can have our wedding(s) that we want (will be sure to post pics from all three of the days ) and we can save more money to get a place together :) We both got a lot of money from my family for Christmas. My gran gave us £1000 as a wedding present and we got another £300 or so from various people for Christmas so that's almost $3000 - will defo help out!!

I think now even if I get my packet 3 before Feb I will prolly delay sending it back just in case I get an interview date for when I am due to be in the US - that would be awful! It gives me plenty of time to prepare as well so it all works out - and it's not like we aren't used to spending time apart now!

On another note - I am trying to track Jeremy's flight but it appears to have been delayed (was meant to be 11.55 GMT then was delayed until 12.20) and now it is saying in the status to call airline!! I just want to see him on the map!! Grr!!!

I know! And I don't even want to go down the route of mentioning "non-legal" weddings - it sounds dodgy as hell!! It's easy enough to prove you are married but not so easy to prove you aren't!!!

Yeah - I think having everything happen post-Feb will be quite nice - will give me some control over things and allow me to organise UK celebration and moving without too much stress... in theory!!:D

without stress my life would feel empty...it's the stress of having so much to do that keeps me going. On another note...bought some new luggage yesterday.

Oh I'm offloading my dress on my mum then pre-June I am going to box things up that I will have shipped later and just cram into cases anything I can't bear to be apart from for any period of time!! Or essentials!! :D I still can't quite believe I am doing this - does anyone else still have that kinda crazy thought - the feeling that they are having some kind of out of body experience!? Or is it just non-USCs? Or is it just me?!?!

Haha!! Yeah - I never wanted to leave Bristol let alone the country!! I saw people who travelled as brave beings - as for getting on a plane alone?! Never!! Now I have flown back and forth to Cali on my own several times, met someone in person that I had known for years online, planned a wedding, a move... insane... it's almost like I am playing at life to see how far I get and suddenly I will get stuck - like on a game!!!

it's the flying bit that gets me the most....I'm terrified of flying, I get physically sick for 2-3 days before it and on the day I fill myself with rescue remedy plus it takes around 2 days to recover! I still the bravest thing I have done.....................taking the plunge and just going "#######" and going alone to another country to meet someone I met online only 5 months earlier. Kinda sounds like a really stupid thing to do when you put it so basically doesn't it!?!?!?!
