Some foreign U.S. consulates require a 2nd affidavit of support which is called "sponsor's financial responsibility

under the social security act." It is a simple form and easily filled out and signed. The Hong Kong consulate does

require this form, as does the Sydney (Australia) consulate.

Question to all Aussies in this thread: Is that true? I've been getting different answers all over the place, and I'm starting to get very frustrated over this stupid form. I'm gonna email the Sydney consulate very soon, but there's no guarantee of an answer, which is why I'm asking here...

Does it come in packet three? I saw a pdf of it, but it's a crappy-looking copy. Gah. :help:

My fiance received his packet 3, and the instructions have 3 parts. We can't tell if he needs to send in part 1 by itself, or with part 2, or can part 2 be sent separatley. He can't get through to the consulate and we don't know what to do.

I have scanned the document so you can take a peak. The blue ink wih his name and tick marks came that way. That is what is confusing us, cause it looks kinda like one and two or ticked... but if you read part one, it looks like you have to send that first. Very confusing!! Please help, he only has today and tomorrow off to get it done.

Thanks so much.

Christine,

Yours is alot clearer than the Egypt one. We just finished our Packet 3 and mailed it today. We sent all in one packet to the Consulate. It did no say what forms shoiuld ot should not be sent like yours. We sent all. Anyway if you have i all ready send all at once. But I think either way is fine by reading your instructions. Here it is best to email the consulate and they email you an answer within 5 days.

The attachment is a jpg file, it should be readable. However in New Zealand the consulate gets your police record directly, the applicant does not get to see it until the interview. In fact the applicant is not even allowed to contact the police department directly, it clearly states that much on the form. The consulate contacts them on your behalf and obtains the report directly.

We just can't tell if you send part one first, or part one and two together, its all on an instruction page that reads like so... Fist complete your OF230 Biographical data together with your police release form (form that you give permission for the consualte to obtain your record from the police on your behalf) This office can not commence processing your case till this form is received.

Second, complete in duplicate the enclosed forms OF-156, Non-immigrant visa application online at www.... and complete the form before you download it - together with OF-156 and Form 156 (K) must be answered. Return these forms as soon as possible with a copy of your passport, and 4 passport type photos.

Third: Obtain the following documents in this checklist which pertain to you. Do not send them to this office. Note the documents listed are required for both your non-immigrant visa and the US department of Homeland security authorities when you apply for permanent resident status.

Than it has a cheklist etc... which we know is for the interview and not to be sent.

Part 1 and Part 2 have been marked with blue ink, we are not sure what that means and if they should be sent separately or not.

My finace's interview was today. I'm happy to say he was approved! Unfortunately, Haiti has changed the process so that you no longer get the visa the same day. So he won't actually get the visa in hand until January 5. But the most important thing is MY BABY'S FINALLY COMING HOME!!!!!!!

:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

Just hang in there guys!! This long journey will be over soon! Just keep the faith!

I like to get things done and out of the way so i can relax - if I am cooking, I have to clean and tidy the kitchen as I go etc as well - I can't stand sitting down to a nice meal and knowing I have to get up and clean everything!!

Geez, Aly -- I nuke (microwave) all meals in one bowl, eat out of the same bowl, and set that same bowl on the ground for Miss Daffy, the cat, to clean with her little tongue. Then, once weekly, I throw that bowl, the one fork & spoon used for the week, and the cat's bowls into the dishwasher. The process then restarts. (My logic is, why should I mess up multiple vessels when one bowl will suffice for all needs?) And, interestingly, Miss Daffy has more bowls than I do -- hard food, wet glop, and water. (She also drinks out of the toilets, because that is a cat's entitlement.)

The "one-bowl policy" will probably have to change when the fiancee arrives -- but, because she knows that I am not a "macho," I may still have to do the wash-dishing and the rest of the housework. Ha!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I'm desperatly try to get nick and his mammy to get the financial stuff to me ASAP. It's just they come from a "nothings urgent everything can wait" background, where as I come from a "everything is urgent get it done and out the way now" background

well sounds like it is becoming pretty urgent now...can drive one crazy when someone says the opposite :P
