June and July filers - NVC to Interview

UMMMMM, no airplane ride with 3 kids. No, nay, never!!! Or maybe when they're a bit older, but for now, we fly solo! As for the grandparents, my Mom is the only one left and they are a handful for her on her own! I usually take the divide and conquer approach and find a different place for each of them!

Can I just say thank you? I hate it when people bring really young children (babies, really) onto planes.

They always get stuck crying in the seat behind me, or kicking my seat repeatedly.

I don't mind the crying within reason - the kicking does my head in though - I can zone out with sound

I'm normally quite sympathetic to children being on planes - I know their parents (most of the time) do their best and it only really annoys me if I have someone kicking the back of my seat (adults are equally as guilty) or if the parents are obviously just letting their kids run riot!!!

I think adults are 100% guilty, actually...

I remember flying over to NY (short flight - only about 6-7 hours so not too bad) about six years ago or so and the people (adults) in front wanted to recline their seats (grr but ok) so I reclined mine and the people behind (adults) complained. So I spent the whole time more cramped than any of them and must admit had a few awkward "adjustments" to make myself comfortable which involved plenty of kicking, nudging and rearrangement to ensure that I was more "comfortable"

(actually I was just being a b!tch because it made me feel better... is that bad?!!?! Oh how much I have changed!!)

If people behind me complained about me reclining my seat, I just might have to laugh in the faces or tell them where to go. I pay for my seat just like they do, ya know? So I don't think you were a ######, I think it's amazing you accomodated them!

And also, I think it's funny that you think flying across the Atlantic for 6-7 hours is a short flight. I know, everybody on here has different times, and it's not like going to Asia or Australia or anything... but my flight to Toronto is only an hour!

Lol - well LA to the UK is 10-11 hours so yeah - 6-7 is nothing and geez - going to Europe on a 3-4 hour flight is like nothing!! I barely get chance to settle into my seat!!!

I think now I would be less likely to accommodate but only because I think I am more rational now than I was at 19!!

Sorry I have been away for so long. As I am sure you all know, life has been very busy thus far. Well, Belen had her interview today, and she has been APPROVED FOR HER VISA!!!! I posted a full review for the Consulate Section in Guayaquil, and we hope it helps others. Now we have to wait 4-5 days for DHL to deliver the Visa to Belen. The DHL office said it would be more like 2 days, but they tell everyone 4-5 days just in case... Anyway, Belen will be here on Christmas Day!!! I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas present!!! I must not have shown up on the naughty list this year. LOL!!!! I hope all is well with everyone, and that you all receive some news very soon.

Actually we have a tone of plans!!! LOL!!! We are going to get married once, just so that we can apply for AOS, Permission to Travel Outside the US (I have military Orders to relocate), and her work permit. Then we are going to get married in Maine with my family. After that we are going to Ecuador to have a ceremony with her family. The Ceremony in Ecuador will probably be around this time next year, as we are short on time with my military relocation. Not to mention we would both like to be there during Quito’s Anniversary Celebration. THAT is a HUGE celebration, and all of her family will be together.

We have a whole new reason to count the days before Christmas! A little less than 8 days now....

Wow - so she actually arrives on Christmas Day?! That really is amazing - and memorable to boot!! It is so fantastic that the system managed to pull its finger out and get you seen two in a timely manner under the circumstances!!!

We do not get notified. You don't have to be a pest, so much, in that they are actually nice when you call since it's not VSC (it's either NVC or DOS, depending on who you choose). I HATE having to use the phone, especially while I'm at work, but it's the one call I made, and it was relatively quick and definitely helpful.

Hey everyone, I just called NVC today...assuming my file was still there...however I was surprised to learn that my file was sent to Cairo on 12-14!!!!! Wow- that's fast!!
