wear your best for your own wedding

I thought that I post this info for some of the couples that are coming here on a K-1.

It may not seem important now, but it can affect your AOS interview and the validity of your marriage depending on who interviews you.

Not all of us can afford a fancy wedding, but if all possible try to wear your best. Ladies wear a pretty dress if you're not doing the wedding gown.

During our AOS interview the officer interviewing us did not believe that our photos were of our wedding day because we were dress simple for a court house wedding. I was highly insulted at how she perceived our wedding photos and said "Those are not Wedding photos!" but never the less took one for their records. How dare she say something like that about the most important day of my life!

Anyway though I pass on this tip with the help of a couples of lovely ladies here on VJ, thanks baf and littlepoem :)

I'm really sorry to hear of your experience with the AO, that really sucks!!

We also had a courthouse wedding, I just wore a very simple summer dress and my husband wore a a nice shirt and pants, not a suit. We only have about 4-5 pictures of the wedding and they are poor quality, my friend's hand was shaking when they were taken. I would hate to think that the validity of anyone's marriage and relationship could be judged on what you did or did not wear for the ceremony!

I'm sorry she gave you a hard time about it :(

I married in linen pants and a jersey top, and we only have one picture from our wedding! I'd have been mad too.

Sorry you got treated that way. (F)

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts

Yes it was painful for her to think that she could get away with what she said and being more painful was that I had to bite my tongue and not tell her off right then and there! :ranting:

Funny that would have been the sterotype I would have gotten about being a NewYorker!

But either way I was nice to her eventhough she was rude to me and my husband and of course I didn't want to jeopardies my husband chances for his green card for taking a swing at her :dead: !

I wonder what she would have said if for my wedding I had worn a bikini instead ???

That was rude.

I wore a black top and slacks and all we have are a few really blurry and dogy pictures from our courthouse bash hehe. Ah well. Maybe one day we'll do the whole white wedding thing.
