For the boneheads that say "no, never! its not my business."...........please give me all your money now since you don't seem to care about it.

I do care about my money, but I don't think there are any illegals with a PhD in maths trying to steal my job away from me.

People do whatever they can to survive, even if sometimes it means breaking the law. Law enforcement is not my job, and as long as no-one's life or livelihood is being threatened, I'm not going to interfere.

I have to agree with this though my degrees are in English, but still...and since I'm a teacher, they're not stealing much from me :)

So you knowingly hire illegals?

Of course. Try getting a quote from a few, they have the best prices. I work for my money and I'm not about to hand it more than I need to over to someone just because he has the right paperwork.

Keep up the exploitation Gupt, it's what America stands for.

LOL... the dude calls me once a month asking me if I have work for him. If I do, I have him give me a quote. I am yet to haggle with the guy, I don't even tell him how much my other (legal) quotes are. Whenever his quote is good, I just say yes. He gets exactly what he asks for.

The only difference is, he doesn't try to exploit me. The legal guys do.

How are they leeches? Leeches, by definition, take but do not give. Illegals give. They work, and by working, they add value. You do realize that any time an economic transaction takes place, value is added - don't you?

I see your "no, I'm not a snitch" and raise it to "no, I'm not an a$$hole with nothing better to do."

Also, seriously, if you're American, like Gupt said, try getting into a better field so undocumented workers don't threaten you economically.

They are not a threat to me ... "co-worker / peer" .. and if they worked within the facility ... in a heartbeat I'd report them.

Not only would the HR Director have a lot of explaining to do with the rest of the Sr mgmt team ... it would also save the company from potential fines and I'd be following our corporate code of ethics.

Oh .. and who said anyone would know I reported it to ICE?

When my husband first got a job here (with his 90-day temp EAD from JFK), it was at an Indian-owned franchise gas station, most of the gas stations in town are the same. I was so excited till I realized the situation: he got less than minimum wage, no lunch or ANY breaks, no overtime pay for his 12-16-hour days, and of course, paid in cash under the table. Every other employee there were Indian students with no work authorization. Boy did I bug my hubby to get OUT of there. Finally I called the boss myself and requested that taxes be paid, and hubby was promptly told they didn't need him to work there any more. Luckily hubby got a REAL job with his green card, but it is minimum wage and he is earning half of what he was at the gas station.

I really really wanted to turn in that gas station, but all gas stations in this city are run by Indians who only hire non-work authorized students. Do I want to ruin the students lives, because they cannot live in US without the money from their jobs? My husband's friends keep offering him more jobs, one guy wanted him to come to Florida to be a manager at a gas station there (we are in California) earning several thousand dollars a month (currently he's earning barely one thousand), I talked to the guy, he said he was an IRS agent and does this business on the side, and there is no way any gas station can function in US without illegal workers and illegal practices. What oh what is the solution, can anything be done and was it always this way? :crying:

Wow compassionate to illegals, yet snobbish to Americans

Looks lie a lot of you are part of the PROBLEM. Will even say probably hypocrites in one way or another.....

We are all part of many problems and all hypocrites to varying degrees - it's a matter of measure and priority.

iIwould most certainly turn them in. All of us here are separated from our husband/wife or signifigant other. We are doing this the legal way and paying a steep price for it in terms of emotional, mental and monetary stress (not just the fees for every slip of paper but the cost of running two households for who knows how long). I cross the border into the U.S. frequently as a visitor to see my husband and each time I get the third degree and am made to feel as though I am commiting some sort of crime, or attempting to do so. I say if someone is in the country illegally kick their a** out, no ifs, ands or buts.

I know tons of illegals here and I wouldn't turn them in - it's not my business.

I'm a teacher - employed by the county I live in - we have background checks so it'd be basically impossible to hire an illegal.

I know a lot of people who are living here legally, yet work illegally. I know they pay taxes. Whether or not I agree with this is a different story....
