Where is everyone  ?

Off trying to enjoy the end of the month while praying for a speedy approval/reunion LOL......

Is anyone sending things home for the holidays to their SO.... I have been sending cards to abuja everyweek this month so that every week in Dec. he will receive something in the mail. Dec. also happens to be his birthday month so I want to pamper my honey even though we are not physically together.

For those not flying to see their SO how are you spending the holidays into the New Year????

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Romans 1vs20

Well, my sister is coming to visit me Dec 21-25 :dance::dance: I am sooooooo excited :dance::dance:

Besides that nothing. I have been trying to keep myself occupied but waiting for this interview is not going as easy as I expected. I don't have any breakdowns because of the waiting anymore, but this 5 month wait is a little ridiculous

So, I have spent the time making a checklist of all the things my fiance needs to take to the interview. I have already organized the binder (in my head) and I have it all in little sections and then I decided what is supposed to go into the sections. So, each time he gets something, or something gets done he can check it off and see what needs to be done. And I have a second checklist for him to go through the day before the interview so that he is sure he has everything in one place. I do some good work  I just hope I have included everything on my checklist  I even made it all fancy using the Control Toolbox toolbar in MS Word.

Yeah, my life is BORING right now.

Hi. How is everyone doing here??

How goes it?

Well, I'm planning on talking to him EVERY DAY for at least an hour. I'm also sending a SMALL package via fedex with a few of his favorite American treats and a really nice lightweight robe I found.

We just barely got the NOA1, so we've got a ways to go still. What's helping me get through that is making the wedding plans. December is the month I get to go shopping for the wedding dress (in case I find one that has to be ordered). In January I will meet with vendors regarding the location and catering. Due to my work shedule I basically only have Saturdays to make the wedding plans, so it may take 2-3 Saturdays to meet with vendors. Then I'll e-mail him or we'll get on IM and decide together what we like best.

When are you planning to get married? Are you planning a large affair? I have made absolutely no plans. I think I might be a little jaded. But I should try to make some plans. It'll probably make me feel better. My daughter wants to pick out a dress with me. But I don't want a big white wedding or anything, so maybe a nice cocktail dress and a dinner celebration with friends and family. Something simple really.

We want to get married about a month after he gets here. I want the white dress and a family dinner and a reception for friends. So we have to basically know what we want so that all we have to do is set the date and make a few calls once he gets the visa.

I want to get married tomorrow

But in all seriousness at this point I will be happy with whatever we do. We are having a big ceremony in July for our families. Since I am the oldest my mom is going all out for all this  But I am excited :P

Then we are going to spend a week in Ghana just traveling and then it is back here to deal with AOS and all the other paperwork. I had originally thought that I wanted to have a reception here for my friends but now I just want to have a casual BBQ for my closest friends.

That's cool. I really don't want a HUGE reception, but there are people that my mom and dad are close to that would be VERY offended if they didn't get to come to a reception. SO, we have to invite them, but I told my dad - NO WAY are there going to be more than 250 people invited. Some of my friends invited lik 500 people to their receptions. SHEESH!!!

I'll probably do something along the lines of what you're doing Zee. I've been married before and I had a big wedding then and don't feel the need to do that again. I'd rather focus on the marraige this go around. Bassi, is a man and told me I could do whatever I wanted and he'd be fine with that. But he doesn't have many friends here, and only one cousin here. Since I've got people in a few places, I'll probably get married at the court (how do you do that anyway? Are there blood tests like on tv?) and then we'll have dinner parties at my aunt's house in GA, for that contingent of the family (maybe 50 or so family members down there) and at my cousin's house in NYC for family and Bassi's transplanted Ghanaian friends, and then here at home for my local friends. I guess we'll be celebrating for a while, just like in Ghana! We may also do something traditional in Accra for his family and friends before he leaves the country.

A quick call to the Courthouse and they will tell you all you need to do to get married there. As for the blood tests, certain states require them, but some don't. When you call the county to get the marriage license, they should be able to tell you.

Thanks girl! It's on my To Do list. I'll probably search the internet first though. Everything is available on Google these days. But I know I have to check in a timely manner because if there are blood tests there may be time requirements and things like that.
