Hi!

I have to leave for work in a few min but was wondering if any of you watched the view today.....Had a story on about A women in the services that married a man from one of the war zones in the middle east.....She said the wait to get him here was horrible and it took her about 2 years from to the date they started......Just wondering if anyone else saw that .....Ohhhh then Dr.Phil yesterday???? the girl ran to Jordan to be with a man she met on the internet....well she got there and while she was there with him.....he beat her bit her and beat her again with a belt buckle.....Waiting to see the update on that story ....I know Dr.phil managed to get her out......anyway have to go for now talk with every body later,,.....byeeee

No didn't see it..I always miss the view and Oprah (work!).

See...now i don't like the way media portrays our long-distance relationships. Its always some mention about "internet-dating" or the latter of what you mentioned....woman marries guy from Jordan and he enslaves her for three months (just an example).

What Dr. Phil should be counseling women on, is the lack of decent guys here in the U.S. for us to choose from!

There really aren't enough active Sub-Saharan members to keep this forum hopping like some of the other ones. I guess its a good thing because we don't have the flaming wars some of the others do

Yay for NVC!!! Its amazing how fast and efficient they are. If only the whole process was like that.

As for the holidays: I am going to be working working working. I wish I could go back home but that is not going to happen  so I may as well consume myself with work <_<

Nothing else. Geez I have a boring life

I try to stay active on the boards. But I must admit that sometimes I feel sad when I come here. I miss Bassi and sometimes coming here makes me think about how long we're waiting for a stupid visa. I guess I feel almost like we're wasting time in our lives and should find a faster way or something. I even mentioned moving to Holland cause his sister lives there and they have much laxer immigration laws. But he reminds me how patience is a virtue and if he doesn't move to the US, he'd rather I move to Ghana so that we don't both have to start over. [sigh] Thank God he's calmer and more stable minded or we'd be moving all over the world looking for a country that will let us settle down and be an old married couple. Love pilgrims......

I have news!!! GC arrived in the mail today!!!

Congratulations!

I know this will sound like a wierd question, but what does it look like now? I know it's not green anymore, but is it iridescent yellow, or does it kind of look like a driver's license? Does your green card have a picture on it? Can it be used as id?

So, listen....there is a post at the end of the forum that refers to archived threads, but when I click the link it says that it's offline or disabled or something wierd like that. Has anyone been able to get into those threads? I just thought history of what was happening at the Ghana embassy and what kind of questions they asked and things like that would be nice to read about. How do we get into those threads, and please don't say I have to know my password, cause my computer seems to remember it and just sign me in, so I have no idea what my password is anymore, though it's probably some form of my sweetie's real name. lol

Thanks forchika! I know this is an exercise in patience. But I missed out on getting my fair share of patience. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning. I don't want to wait! Bassi and I talk every single night and sometimes in the middle of the day. That's why I'm so bloody poor right now. But we always say we're going to economize and not talk as often or limit our conversation to save money, but it's nearly impossible. We're too weak. I guess we'll be poor and sort of happy cause I love to hear his voice before I go to bed at night.

Hello all!

I am not around VJ nearly as much as I used to be since we have a bit respite from USCIS now, but I do come around and lurk every now and then. It does seem that there is far less drama here in the Sub-Saharan forum than I see in others. But maybe that is a good thing.

Just wanted to encourage ALL of those still waiting to reunite with their loved ones to keep the faith. Even though I don't come around as much, I do come back to get updates. I can't believe some of the wait times for an interview after the petition arrives at the Embassy!! You all have the patience of saints!! LOL.

In any event, if I can be of assistance, don't hesitate, though I am sure that all of you are more versed in the visa process than I am now. Still though, if I can help in any way please let me know. And by the way I am curious to read those old Sub-Saharan thread myself.......

ETA: Congratulations Heather & Justice! I know receiving the GC is such a relief.

 I am sad to know that this forum is dead. I am just joining after the fact. My fiance was approved for his visa on November 13th. The whole process has been very stressful, but I just want to let others know that all will be well if you pray and have faith that God has already decided what the outcome will be. Femi will pick up his visa on November 20th and he will be here after Christmas. I am going to Nigeria for Christmas and we all know what fun there is in Nigeria during the holidays. Have a good one!!!!

Hello, I was looking at your timeline, which is close to mine. I will have to keep in touch with you. Did you use a lawyer?

It was hard leaving him and I did cry, but it has been so long I fell like I am back to my old routine untill I get his phone call. The we just got the request for the fees for the consulate that excited me. AFter viewing many timelines though it looks like we have about 2 months till our interview. OUCH!

Have a reat day all!

I am pretty computer savvy, but this site can be complicated at times. took me 5 minutes to figure out how to reply.
