There really aren't enough active Sub-Saharan members to keep this forum hopping like some of the other ones. I guess its a good thing because we don't have the flaming wars some of the others do

Yay for NVC!!! Its amazing how fast and efficient they are. If only the whole process was like that.

As for the holidays: I am going to be working working working. I wish I could go back home but that is not going to happen  so I may as well consume myself with work <_<

Nothing else. Geez I have a boring life

Hahaha...our people don't have any shame in asking for what they want! Yeah I was thinking of getting her some perfume and a nice purse. It'll be the first time I'm meeting her...I'm so nervous. My ex's mom hated me! Becos I'm from the part of Nigeria her ex-husband is from (imo state). But i've talked my mom-in law sooo many times, she's such a sweetie.

I last went home in May...and we pretty much stayed in lagos most of the times...we were in VI...visited Lekki...aunt lives in Festac...that's pretty much it. I heard Ibadan is soooo beautiful..I would like to go there if we have time. I also heard Eleko beach is pretty, and not as dirty as some of the other beaches have gotten. I stayed in Abuja in january when I visited. I'm so sold on Abuja...I love that place! In comparison to the rest of nigeria, its so peaceful and not as hot.

Oooh sorry you got malaria - I know that was awful. My dad is a pharmacist, so I've already told him to steal me the best malaria pills they have

Man! Those days right after you get back from seeing your sweetie are the worst. I know you miss him. I cried so bad on the plane back to DC in May, the flight attendant asked me if I was alright...lol.

Praying for ur speedy approval Jenn.

WOW! I'm noticing alot of ppl found this site BEFORE they sent in their applications. I wish I woulda found it sooner, so I could have sent it sooner. I didn't find the site until I actually started gathering docs for the application.

I'm here. Most of the time I sit back and read what others have to say. My husband came on a Fiance visa from Cameroon. Lately the majority of questions/comments have been regarding various embassies. I've only had the experience of dealing with the Cameroon embassy. So for the most part, I don't have a lot to offer.

I can say that I understand what those who are waiting are going through. Trying to pass the time is so hard!

Anyway - how did everyone meet their SO?

On a side note ... when I first came to VJ (2005) this forum used to be filled with DRAMA! So for the longest I kind of conditioned myself to simply sit back and watch. Then when I did have something to say, I would type/re-type my comments hoping and praying that I did not get my butt chewed for voicing an opinion. Now ..... things are a whole lot better.

Boaz

ALL things work TOGETHER for GOOD!

Hmm....I think I am going to start a thread so that we can keep track of people's progress, ie, people waiting for NOA2's, interviews, etc. I have seen it being done in other forums.

Lets see what I can come up with.

My man lives in Abuja, if you know anyone going to abuja for the abuja carnival taking place at the end of this month. Tell them to look out for the promoters of Federal It is a new board game that is supported by the Ministry of tourism in abuja.. ..... (I can tell u more later if interested).

We met at the wedding of our mutual friends, I was the maid of honor, he was a groomsman..... I was one of the people that always streotyped people for going back home and finding love( I really could not understand it) Well when it was happenning to me it was as though I was watching a movie........ I knew that if I rejected him I would not be able to ever forget him....... :crying: I was  glad when in april, he asked me to marry him. I said Yes :D

I went to Naija in august and did our into/engagement and we are hopefully going to go back next year for our traditional and church blessing set for 12/19/08 & 12/20/08. our families understand that the courts will have to take place as soon as he gets here.

I wish this first part would not take forever, cause I know that Nigeria will have its own challenges :( . I wanted him to experience real winter in the NYC  , I know he would want to get back on the plane if he got here in Feb, in the middle of a snow storm.......( well that was wishful thinking) I now see that things will have to take longer........

I found this site after I sent in my package and I have learnt alot...but I wish I found it sooner, I would have sent my package earlier.

I have always been a very busy person so my time is always filled with things to do i.e I am currently looking for another job cause WE may want to move out of new york (not sure yet). I have alot of baby showers and social events to attend. I can go on about nothing, but why?

I will be in abuja end of decemeber, or did you mean end of this month? I'm flying into abuja this time...wayyy cheaper. Yeah...my spare time is filled up with weddings, family events, also showers. My friends drag me out to hang out every once in a while, but whenever i'm out doing something I always think "hmmm....what if my honey was here"..lol. So most of the things I do nowadays are family related. I guess my friends are tired of me turning them down.

How'd I meet my SO? Well...we were hooked up by his aunt who is a goooood friend of my mom's. She saw me in church one day, after not seeing me for a long time, and had this look in her eye...lol. The next day, she called my mom and said "i have this cute nephew that would be great for Chi". My mom turned it down instantly...(hater)...lol...so she called me, and I turned it down instantly too...lol. I felt the same way - I was not doing the overseas relationship thing. I admit...I did kind of generalize my honey. I thought what if he just wants to use me for my citizenship. So unfortunately, those ignorant ideas I had, stalled us getting to know each other. My mom's friend still gave him my number, and he would call, but I would totally avoid him. So then I went to Nigeria in January for a wedding. I was bored, so I called him up. And just like that, he hopped on a bus from Lagos to Abuja to come see me. Those who've been to nigeria know that these two cities are very far from one another...Lagos is south -- Abuja is North. So he travelled for like almost 24 hours just to come see me, and that impressed me alot. Don't know many guys in America that would do that  .

So when I saw him in Abuja....it was a wrap right there. I thought he was too cute, and very well mannered, smart as hell not to mention. So the same night he came to see me, we sat in front of our hotel and talked for like hours...about everything. Talking to him was so natural. I got nervous around him -- that's how I knew I was falling for him. Cause no man has ever really made me nervous. The rest is history...

Ok...I'll stop boring you guys.....
