So I am getting ready for my interview.

Directions from the embassy say that if there is only one CR-1 applicant, a 750 g Chronopost envelope can be used, and if there is a family, they would need a 2kg envelope.

I am the only immigrant, so I bought a 750 g envelope... And now (of course) I am worried

Is this enough? What do they put in it? I have read, that brown envelope contents are every document which was submitted with the immigration paperwork.

Now, does it only include I-130, I-864 and DS-230 + supporting documentation and medical? Or, also everything they will take from me during the interview?

If they include all my phone records, e-mails, photos, itineraries and joint financial records... well. Two kilo may be enough, but certainly not 750 g envelope!!!

Please advise!

Does anybody know if embassy in Paris sells those Chronopost envelopes (if I need a bigger one) :crying: ?

Great many thanks!

Rika

Ours weighed about a pound, so 750g should be fine for you.

Yes the brown envelope contains everything you submitted or was retained at interview but I haven't a clue why you are buying an envelope. They give you the envelope to carry to the US and deliver at the POE.

Is something different about this in Russia that requires you to buy some special envelope?

I suspect like in China, the consulate mails the packet to a local address and the OP is concerned about which postal envelope will be needed.

Yes,

thank you!

I am actually in France, not Russia. In Paris, they ask to bring a pre-paid courier mail envelope to the interview, so they could mail the passport/visa/brown envelope back to the applicant. They do not allow pick-ups.

It would be very sad if my envelope did not get delivered on time because it is few grams over the 750g limit... I am hoping to spend Christmas with my man and to pull this one out, I will need immediate approval and fast delivery.

Yeah, right

After seeing so many mistakes done by USCIS, NVC and various consulates, I really believe they know what they are doing.

As well, in France, administrators usually don't

I love France anyway (L)

They have done this countless times... They know what is appropriate...

Yes, the applicant pays to have the passport with visa and brown envelope mailed from Guangzhou but they do so inside the consulate after the interview. I take it the difference in Russia is that the applicant brings the mailing envelope with them. Interesting. Still, the answer will be different based on how much extra was submitted or retained. You're probably right about the 750mg being enough though. It just seems funny that their procedures leave open the possibility of such an error.

Paris (L) Paris (L) Paris !!!

Sorry, I must have confused some with my flag. I am Russian, but now reside in France.

Well, I guess I shall hope that they don't take much of my evidence at the interview. The USCIS+NVC papers are about 350 g (I have copies) + I estimate 200 g for the medical. So 200 g left for the passport + evidence.

Alternative would be to lose 22 euro I spent on this Chronopost envelope...

I know there is very few French here, but may be they know if embassy sells those envelopes too???

In Canada, the do.

Being interviewed in Paris France, sounds like that is procedure in France.

OK, I had my interview and 750 g envelope was plenty enough.

They don't include ALL the paperwork from the case to make up the brown envelope, just bare bones.
