My wife went to her biometrics appointment today they view her green card, appointment notice and passport. My question is when do they take the old green card?

From what I've heard, it depends on the Service Center. It seems to me NSC was requiring some applicants to send in their old green card before the new one was issued. That used to happen before the biometrics appointments were standardized. I'm not really sure what happens now.

First time I hear about that... I wasn't asked to hand in my old GC, only to submit a copy of both sides when filing for removing conditions

Entry in the USA: May 13 2005

10 yr GC approved: October 5 2007

I didn't known and yes we submitted a copy of both sides of the GC when filing for removal of conditions. I had thought they would take it back. Thanks!

Hi: When I went for biometrics in Portland, Me., I was given a paper that stated, when I received the 10 year green card, I should mail the old card along with the paper back to the INS in Portland.
