So, DS230 didn't get here yet - and I'm sort of in a panic. I call up NVC - and find the status ...

"we've sent you a request for information ..."

OMG NOOOOOO! I'm ready to fall on the floor at this point. Press zero for an operator ...

"We can not take IV calls at this time, call back in an hour."

OMG NOOOOOO!

So I call back in an hour ...

Hit key to talk to an operator

"System mucho prospera ... " ( The Spanish "we're busy" message )

OMG NOOOOOO!

100 calls later....

Talk to the operator -

Operator: "Oh, that's asking for your DS230."

Me: "Do you know your system just gave me a heart attack?"

Operator: "I could imagine."

:)

There was a thread somewhere on this site with "translations" for all the automated voice response system messages -- I will try to hunt it down.

I really don't understand why they don't refer to things by their Official Name or Form Number, instead of using these mysterious and vaguely ominous phrases.

Glad to see that your back with the living.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Well what really surprises me is that they don't have some kind of a form to fill out for a status.

Ever notice how if you buy a money order from 7-Eleven, there's a 1-800 number to call for status.

If you buy a money order from the Government - there's a form to fill out and a fee to pay if you want a status.

With the I-130, I used a USPS money order. With the AOS - I used a 7-Eleven money order. :) I learned my lesson.
