Hi everybody

I really do have doubts about background check when applying for a job

I was approved my K-1 visa upon an approved waiver I-601 for a conviction in my past.

My FBI namecheck was cleared by my AOS interview with no problems.

Now I do apply for a job where they are also doing a background check.

Will my conviction from my homecountry show up on that check?

Did it even appeared on my FBI namecheck when they did it for my interview?

I just wondered if this will follow me rest of my life over here

Usually the police checks are limited to the city and/or county that you live in/the job is in. Andre had one and, of course, it showed nothing cause he'd been here just 6 months. We did have his police record from Jamaica that we copied and sent along.

I'd say as far as background goes, yah, not usually done.

I am applying for a job on a casino as a cashier. And this is high security.

So just wondered if I should type yes on ever been convicted.

Would be very terrible if I say no and they can see me on the backround check.

I guess the background check only shows the country I am living in now?

In my homecountry it doesn't even exist nolonger. After 10 years I was cleared in the system which is 5 years ago

most employers do complete background checks. but definitely anyone that is in a cash handling position will have a thorough check including a credit check. if you owe loads of money jobs can be denied because you are considered a theft risk. honesty is the best policy.

GOOD LUCK!

Oh ok. Creditcheck I am not worry about.

I noticed that all other jobs are asking for convictions for past 10 years.

At least I can then consider myself as having a clean past

Oh, how should I put this.........I'm not asking for you to share your business here....If the conviction is for something like armed robbery, theft, embezzlement........something that would effect the job you will be doing, I would probably say don't even attempt to apply for that job. If it's something that would not effect your job, then I say explain the situation.

I have a minor offense on my record from half my lifetime ago. Sometimes it does effect the jobs I apply for because they accept NO offenses. Other times, I've skated right through.

All you can do is try.

Since I am a decent and innocent person I will gladly share my stupid conviction with you all.

It has been such a hassle for me since I started my visajoerney. And I feel it is still so unfair to me.

My son's dad did back in 1994 cheated on me and sneaked out to be with another woman.

When he left me for her I was very angry and went to his camper to pick up my stuff.

I litted a candle as the only light ,which I forgot to blow out.

Next day the police came and arrested me telling that I had burn his camper down to the grown.

My sons dad believed I did it on purpose.

He throwed me to the court and I was convicted for arson.

I payed a fine for the courtcase and they put me under 2 year probation where I couldn't commit another crime. If I did I should serve 5 month in jail.

After 10 year I was cleared and no record in Denmarks system, but everything came back to me when I had to be honest on my visa applications

That's my story

I work in the yellow pages publishing industry, and they did a background check on me. They do them at JCPenney, for pete's sake.
