VANCOUVER, Canada (AFP) — A video showing the dramatic last moments of a Polish immigrant who died after police shocked him with a Taser and restrained him at Vancouver's airport last month.

Robert Dziekanski, 40, of Pieszyce, Poland, was tasered and restrained by police on October 14 after going on a rampage out of frustration for waiting 10 hours for his mother.

He spoke no English and died minutes later while being attended by an emergency medical team.

The incident is under investigation by local police, by Canada's national police complaints commission and by an independent coroner's service. The Polish embassy has filed a formal diplomatic note asking Canada for full disclosure of the incident.

Walter Kosteckyj, the victim's family lawyer, said he was disturbed by the video because Dziekanski was not violent. "I was expecting to see a confrontation" with police, he told AFP.

being a police officer isn't an easy job!! Was using a taser too much force? probably so, but he had thrown stuff around and seemed very agitated. Cops didn't know if he was high on drugs! people high on drugs have super human strength. Why they didn't get an interpreter, but what type of interpreter? I cant distinguish between many languages. Its easy to make calls when one wasn't there, or the stress police go through every day.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

they tasered him way after that, he was calm and thats when they started frying him, plus the knee on the neck, cmon, he couldn't breath, you don't need to be a genius to know when a person can't breath

I wouldn't say he was calm. The guy was acting like a complete idiot, should he have been tasered? probably not, but were the cops following procedure? I dont know what the RCMp protocols are. And the taser is a fairly new wpn,and it probably does get over used. jolts to the body is never a good thing!

my guess is he had a medical condition. but hey, it's normal to blame the cops instead of the person acting up isn't it?

These cops? I've seen the video, so yes. They lived up to the worst cop stereotypes in existence - the word for cops who do that is pig.

At one point, he takes a computer off a counter and throws it to the ground, as airport security guards stand close by.

agitated but not violent.. I understand the using of the taser, but I think they fried him too much, and actually probly the taser wasn't the problem, but the way the put him on the ground, he couldn't breath.. that's the worse part.. as a cop they know when they are actually making the person not breathe.. heck, u don't have to be a cop to notice that
