Hi everyone,

Just need clarification from anyone if a PDOS (Pre departure orientation seminar) for K-1 needed after the medical at St. Luke's (Manila). I read this from a testimonial (not in VJ). I'm sure about the CFO stamp but unsure of the PDOS.

you need to take the seminar, which can be done at any time, in order to get the CFO Stamp. you can get the CFO stamp once you have the visa in hand.

This was what the Orientation Officer, Allan Ducusin told me in an email:

We wish to inform you that all Filipinos leaving the country as spouses and other partners of foreign nationals are required to register with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and attend the Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP).

Please be informed that the Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) is required only for family-based, company-sponsored, and independent class emigrants. The GCP, on the other hand, is conducted for Filipino spouses and other partners of foreign nationals and is being administered by our authorized service providers, the St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation – Center for Overseas Workers (SMEF-COW), and the People’s Reform Initiative for Social Mobilization, Inc. (PRISM)

After your attendance to the Guidance and Counseling Seminar, you will receive a Guidance Counseling Certificate (GCC) from the CFO. Upon receipt of your visa, you also need to register at CFO. One of the registration requirements is her CFO GCC. Registration could be done at CFO Manila, CFO Cebu or CFO NAIA Terminal 1 and 2 on a walk-in, first-come, first-serve basis. There is no need to set an appointment. An emigrant registration sticker will be affixed to her passport after satisfactory completion of the registration requirements.

TAKE NOTE: PDOS IS DIFFERENT FROM GCP.
