I hope someone here can help me with this issue?

My mother in law recently received her citizenship, she wants to upgrade her I-130 application for her adult daughter. The I-130 was originally filed when she was a PR and has been approved and sent off to the national visa center. The issue I'm having is my mother in law's daughter is currently on a work visa aand is living in the US, can she simply file an I-485 when the priority date for US citizen filing for adult daughter comes up? I called the USCIS help line and I was advised to have my mother in law make an info pass appointment, is this necessary to upgrade the I-130?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi there, I actually made an info pass appointment today and sincerely its not worth the time, the immigration official told me the same information that I got on the phone, with the difference that she let me know that someone was actively working on my case. Im in the same situation my husband put in the I-130 petition end of aug. and we recieved form I-797 notice of action, but he became a citizen on oct 18 so I called to upgrade the status( you can do this by phone) and send in the proof which would be a copy of her citizenship certificate as proof. I went to the info pass appointment to see if they had recieved the proof I had sent them, but the immigration official had the same info as the phone line did, nothing!!! So dont waste ur time just make sure to send the copy of the certificate in along with a copy of the form they sent u, supposedly from there on u have to wait until they contact u, cuz there is no way of knowing if they recieved it. MAke sure to send the proof by certified mail so you know if the letter was recieved at least. Good Luck!!!!!!!! (oh if you upgrade her status by phone make sure to write down the service order number to keep as reference and send that proof ASAP!!!
