Thanks Everyone, it is all in the paperwork isn't it. The US gov employees can't take a dump unless it is spelled out step by step in a manual somewhere. Oh well at least if you follow the rules anally (like they do) you will win!

Example:

We went yesterday to have Marina's last name changed to mine at the SS office (get a new card). She didn't have to be, but the lady was some kind of rude "expletive." As she was entering data I asked if her (Marina's) middle name would be on the card this time as it was not before? She immediatly said NO! I said why, mommy?? BECAUSE IT IS NOT ON THE GREEN CARD! The dumb woman didn't even bother to look at the GC, she just looked at her comp screen and made this decision. Anyway I said yes it is, she picked up the card real fast like she was gonna pull a Linda Blair on it and her scowl softened. She knew she had been beat and resumed her typing. Mind you I was very kind and polite this whole time not giving broomhilda any ammunition to use against me. So one little battle won 4 seconds into this encounter.

Next, just when we think it is all over the woman from Eastwick proclaims ever so proudly "I cannot process this because the comp screen says fraudulent documents have been submitted." You would think Dorthy's nemesis had just won the lotto. What a "XOXOX!" Anyway she did not say another word as she did some more data entry on the comp. The next thing she did was pass a paper for Marina to sign while she told us your card will arrive in 10-14 days! What! You scare the bejezzus out of us them you just blow it off, whatever. She must have entered the data wrong somewhere but man did she look happy to make that statement. We smile say thank you, and walk away. Before we even hit the parking lot Marina says to me, mind you she is sweet as November rain, "she was a bit of a ###### wasn't she? LOLOLOLOL! " Yes dear she was the poster child for bitchism across America.

Moral? Just smile and take it. They will push your buttons some time but they have rules to follow and they will. But if you give them a reason to single you out by jumping up and down about your rights as an American citizen or something believe me they can make this process a living hell.

Best of luck everyone. All we have left to do is get her state ID changed to her married name then wait until the 2yr mark to adjust her status. What a ride!
