Other... I'm female and kept my married name from my first marriage. I didn't want to have a different last name than my daughters and my career has been built with that name.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

My husband asked me to take his name and I think Jenifer Alexander sounds nice. :) It would have been different if I had a career built around my name but I don't. Although it was a pain in the ### to change. Oregon would not accept my UK Marriage Certificare because it's not a US document. I had to get my social security card changed and that took 6 weeks. Once that was done, I had no problems getting everything else updated.

Other: I'm male and will not change my name. However, I thought you might be interested in what we will do about Li's name.

In China, the family name is first and the given name is second. Many Chinese 'westernize' their names when they come to the US by reversing their names.

We will not westernize Li's name. Her father was a good man and is deceased. Since the reason for Chinese having the family name first is emphasis on the importance of family: Out of respect, we will leave her family name first.

Li will become her middle name. In order not to confuse Americans, we will add my family name to the end of her name.

i will take my husbands name after we have a "real wedding". getting married at the courthouse didn't make me feel like i was really married. so when we decide to have a real celebration is when i will change mine to his.

When your wife changed he middle and last names, did she actually change in any official documents like Passport or marrigae certificate ?

I've applied for my wife's AOS now just like you have done it but they have just sent the NOA letters with no middle name. I'm now worried if this is going to cause problems like name check etc.

I am adding my husband name with a hyphen and also adding my husbands name with a hyphen to my son's name. I was never married and my son has my mayden last name. I want him to have the same last name as me. AFter we were married asked my son if he wanted to be a Jibowu and he said "yes". It is difficult for me to change my son's last name, because he is the last male ayotte in my immeiate family tree. Although he did not take the Ayotte name from a male ayotte, so it doesnt matter.
