Seriously, people. I would advise everyone here who has received the Blue Slip of death to write a short, clear, respectful letter detailing what has happened in your case, also pointing out that this is common practice for the HCMC consulate and ask that Mr. O'Reilly look into the issue.

Were O'Reilly's team to receive more than a couple emails on this subject in the course of a few weeks, they would likely do a story on it. A friend of mine used to work at Fox News and he said they O'Reilly is very much against our government harassinging and delaying legit Visa applicants.

Might nothing happen? Of course. But is it worth your time to spend 15 to 30 minutes writing that email? Absolutely!

email him at oreilly@foxnews.com

You should also email the same to Michelle Malkin, who is furious about the illegal immigration issue. writemalkin@gmail.com

I'm just not sure that making a firestorm about any case is going to improve the situation. It could very well make it worse than it already is. I guess sometimes you just have to let the situation run its course.

Has anyone looked into the process for cancelling the K-1 petition and going the K-3 route? At least, from the sound of the reply Matt_Stevens got from the consulate in HCMC regarding the interviewing officers reduced discretion with the I-864, the co-sponsor would have a more firm foundation in the process.

However, having said all of that, I don't know that one can definitively say that the blue slip is a common practice at HCMC. We don't have the complete details of any blue slip cases. I say that with a "two sides to every story" frame of mind. Were they completely prepared? Were they VisaJourney trained? Many of the blue slips we hear about (during post interview reports) are magnified because VisaJourney fiance(e)'s that interviewed were perhaps seeing other blue slipped and less fortunate interviewees who didn't have the wealth of information we have on VisaJourney. Look how confused we are in the case of the IRS 1722 request. Perhaps there is a legitimate reason for the request of this form. We will hopefully find out with a reply from the consulate to Matt_Stevens.

Remember - I'm just here to keep us all level headed. Bruce_Han has an interview coming up on April 24th. This will serve as another chance for more informative information.

I truly believe that something needs to be done for the unfortunate people who are getting shafted. My fiancee and I may be lucky. We won't know for a while. But it is certain that two couples who are members here are getting royally screwed with no end in sight. They need action.

It could be that the CO will reject the co-sponser if there are no means of health insurance for the applicant, they may view this as a possible public charge.

Yes, Bill O'Reilly is going to have sympathy was an immigrant denied a visa on the basis that the sponsor could not meet the financial obligations of support without co-sponsors. ;)

I seriously doubt it. It may prompt him to devote a show questioning why all consulates aren't as dilligent, but it's not going to make him angry at HCMC.

I don't agree. The co-sponsor situation is being treated differently in HCMC and that is not right. But the biggest problem is that HCMC is quite literally burying cases and refusing to make a decision or even answer questions. That is wrong. It is an abuse of power and government out of control.

That is the angle we should use to get some help in these matters.

I agree with you that if in fact they are just flat our denying people who are applying on the basis of the use of co-sponsors that this is wrong. It definitely should not be the policy of one lone consulate to make a decision like this. Even if it was, it should be stated in the USCIS policy right off the bat: HCMC will not accept co-sponsors.

Even if they only accept co-sponsors that are the parents of the sponsor the policy should be spelled out that way in the beginning, instead of dragging people through this hell when they didn't stand a chance from the very beginning.

But in this climate of immigration reform, and knowing O Reilly's stance on it, I don't think you would get any sympathy from him.

Apparantly the HCMC consulate is not the only one pissing off applicants. You should read the opinions expressed about the Casablanca Consulate here:221g Morocco

We will have to agree to disagree. I've watch O'Reilly for years and know his views very well. He will go ballistic when the government abuses their power and put citizens through hell. He is absolutel for legal immigration.

The only we can know for sure about our situations is if we write to him. i just sent an email.

Hey yeah.. I've noticed that different consulates have different ways to ruin lives. Ho Chi Minh City is denying people with co-sponsors. In Casablanca, that's not the case, They're flat out sending back petitions for validity of relationship. Once it gets back to the states, these people are stuck in limbo.
