:sleepy: I'm still sleepy from too much celebrating last night (Starbucks doesn't close until 11:30pm  ) But it's official... need to find that number for DOS...

So, several questions:

How do I find the number?

I don't think I've ever actually seen that on the boards anywhere,

What kinda questions will they answer? What do I ask?

I'm going to try to only call every 2-3 weeks ("try" being the operative word) but I want to call soon to see if it's even been sent over. They told my SO 2 weeks, so I'm guessing that means they will send it directly for checks right? Am I getting my hopes up? I know that if there is a hit we are in for a long wait, but I want it out of Cairo's hands for now and some action happening on that security check

:help: I'm clueless here....

You will need the case number and simply tell them you're checking progress on your fiance's K1 visa. They may ask his name and your name. They may ask when he had his interview. I would give them 10-14 days to get the case into their system. Some cases are sent immediately, some take a couple weeks and some even take a couple months. After my husband had his interview I waited two weeks to call DOS. After that I called once a week to check on the case. Occasionally I had a bug up my butt and called more than once a week but it didn't do any good.

I call 202-663-1225 and press 1 and then 0 to get a visa specialist.

I ask what the status of my case is and they normally ask if he showed up for the interview. Don't fret when they ask you this since apparently they always ask this question. (for the life of me I don't know why since it's in their system). Usually they'll say, "well what do you want to know". To which I respond more specifically, "is the case in Washington yet?" or if it's in Cairo still, "what exactly is Cairo doing", and if they respond with the annoying "administrative processing" I then ask, "well can you tell if they've been working on it and if they are partially, half way or 100% done?" They usually get nasty after that but at that point you're gonna get all you can out of them so it's cool.

More often than not if you call three times within 1 hour you'll get 3 different answers so that tells you how efficient they are.

I had my Cr-1 interview in London embassy on 9th of November 2007 at 9am, after my interview I was told my name is very common that’s way they want to do security check on it through Washington, in other word they put me on AP.

After 3 hours when my wife called to DOS to check the status of my case the visa specialist told her your husband got AP couple hours ago. I was surprised how efficient they are???? My case was already in their system, IS IT GOOD??? :innocent:

Unfortunately that is not the case for Cairo, which is where she's going through. That's nice for you though!
