Hi All,

My IV bill has been generated and I am expecting to receive it soon.Meanwhile I am preparing to complete I864 and DS230, so that I can return them to NVC as soon as I receive them.I have a couple of questions..

1. In I30, I answered "none", to the question C7 "Other Name Used (Including Maiden Name) as my wife does not use any other name. Now someone told me I should have put her first name there as her first name is her maiden name (she added my last name to her name). Now I am confused what to answer to question 2 in DS230 Part I. Should I be consistent with I130 or should I write her first name there?

2. With I130, I submitted one page of G325A although there were 4 pages. Is this going to be a problem? Should I send other 3 pages with DS230 now or should I wait for NVC's inquiry?

3. I have my employment letter, last three years tax transcripts, pay stubs, my wife's birth certificate (original copy), our marriage certificate(original copy). photocopy of the biographic page of my wife's passport with me. What more documents I may need to submit to NVC?

Please advise me. Please

Thanks a lot for your time.

I don't really understand his question but my wife has surely used the same name all her life. It did not change in any way when we married.

I don't understand what the OP means by "first name".

If a person's birth name is Mary Ann Jones, and she marries Bill Smith and takes his name to become Mary Ann Smith, then in the "other names used" spot she would write, "Mary Ann Jones" which was her married name.

My daughters were not given middle names. They both married and became Michelle Mylastname Smith and Nicole Mylastname Jones. If they were filling out an "other names used" they would write Michelle Mylastname or Nicole Mylastname in that spot.

My wife who has never used another name would simply write "none".

In our case, our lawyer put my maiden nameon Q2. I used my husband's surname.

Sample:

Anna Chuva Nicole - birthname/maiden name

Anna Nicole Smith - with husband's surname

We just submitted with DS230 forms are my BC (NSO paper), MC (NSO paper), NBI/police certificate, passport biographic parts.

Thank you all for replying. I understand that I made a mistake. Now how to resolve this issue?Should I put my wife's first name in DS230 which would make it dissimilar with I130 where it was "none" ? Or should put "none" again in DS230 to be consistent with I130 ? I hope NVC will take it as a stupid mistake, not as a false statement...

Please advise...

Other names used mean names she had before taking your last name. So you should write down her full name that she had before you married her. Since you know that you did not answer the question on I-130 correctly, give the correct answer on DS 230. They will understand that you made an error. You may want to include a note with DS 230 that you inadvertently made an error on I-130.

You should have sent all 4 pages of G-325A. Now, don't send 3 pages now unless they ask you to do so. They might accept one page that you sent them.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Hi Shamim,

I don't know the answer to your name question, however for your other 2 questions:

With I130, I submitted one page of G325A although there were 4 pages. Is this going to be a problem? Should I send other 3 pages with DS230 now or should I wait for NVC's inquiry?

USCIS accepted your I-130 with only 1 copy of the G-325A - you do not need to send this to NVC (two separate processes).

I have my employment letter, last three years tax transcripts, pay stubs, my wife's birth certificate (original copy), our marriage certificate(original copy). photocopy of the biographic page of my wife's passport with me. What more documents I may need to submit to NVC?

Off hand I'm thinking the police clearance - plus there may be other documents dependant on your situation.

Use the link below to go to the Department of State website and choose your interviewing consulate from the drop down list. This will give you information on everything that is needed to either submit with the DS-230 or present at the interview. It depends on whether your consulate is 'standard' or 'interview'.
