So, we're narrowing down the venues for our wedding and have come to the top three choices. One is a barn (a nice one, not one with hay and cows) and one is a lovely community center on the beach. Now the one that I really love is at a medieval village near Seattle. The downside is only 45 guests, but the upside is all inclusive, food, musicians, ceremony area, etc for less than $2000. (Which means more money for the honeymoon!).

P is worried people won't like the idea of a theme wedding, but they don't have to dress up. My dress is a medieval style anyway, so I'm good :)

Any thoughts?

Oh, here's the place if anyone wants to check it out: http://www.camlann.org/weddings.htm

Medieval village, all inclusive, more honeymoon money...if you can handle only 45 guests, that's what I'd suggest :)

Ahh I have seen so many themed weddings, and I always thought they were great if they were done right.

I have seen Simpson themes, hockey themes, and medieval themes. Any themed wedding is great if it is done right.

It kind of narrows you down too, and that can be both good and bad. Depending on how you look at it. Good because you know what to look for, but bad because you may like something that may not work within the theme.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not sure if 45 guests will be enough, that will be the biggest deterrent.

P's family and friends are flying in from Germany, but probably only about 9 people.

I like the all-inclusive idea and the fact that I don't have to decorate, etc. And since they do all the work, it's not like I can screw anything up!

I should mention that I'm a huge nerd, and I majored in English literature in graduate school, so the idea of a wedding in a village based on fourteenth century England makes me all a-flutter :)

I had a theme wedding. My husband's side of the family flew in from England and all dressed up as pirates. Out of my family, one person dressed up, and that was because I had to twist her arm and drag her to party city. If you don't mind people not dressing up then by all means go with it! We had a blast, our guests had a blast and the pictures are awesome. Medieval was one of the themes I thought of (as well as KISS make up) and if I had the opportunity you have there I would have gone for it!

You're only going to do this once, have fun with it! :D

I agree :) I saw the pics from your wedding and they're mighty cool!

I don't mind if people don't dress up. I just need to convince my darling SO that this is a cooler idea than the beach...

I personally have never been to a themed wedding, but I think it would be fun to attend one! I didn't have one myself either, maybe because we didn't really have a "theme". I don't think Gene would have liked the idea. We wanted a backyard wedding, quick, short and sweet. We had the previous year landscaped a little sitting/garden area for our wedding, so I couldn't change it after that.

Anyway, sorry for being so off topic! I did check out the site, and I thought it looked cool! To me 45 guests is enough. hehe I too love the all inclusive. Having them set up and clean up, means more time for your guests, for you to have fun with everyone, and for everyone to just leave the place at the end and not having to worry about dismantling.

Let us know what you decide!

I love themed weddings. I always wanted to get married on Halloween.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
