Hello all! Im a newbie and my fiance has just recently filed a petition for I129f. I'm an australian citizen but my naturalization is cambodian but i was born in thailand in a refugee concentration camp. No birth certificate was issued to me as the camp was run by the united nations and the thai army. I have contacted the ministry of interior of thailand for my birth records but received no response. I also contacted the united nations regarding my birth details and they issued me with a detailed letter explaining that no birth certificates were ever issued to refugees born in thailand before 1993. They also stated that it was nearly impossible to receive a birth certificate from the thai government. However the un letter did comfirm my date of birth and that i was born in a refugee camp. I also have an expired humanitarian visa with a photo of me when i was 3years of age as proof of my birth. I was wondering would this be significant evidence of my birth?...and will my fiance and i still have a good chance of the visa being approved? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi there

you would think the letter you have would be enough but if you look in the australian embassey info at the top of this page ..the sydney consulate's email address is in there

i would email them explaining your situation and see what they say mate...

this would be your best avenue i reckon to getting an answer to your question..they usually answer any emails quite quickly too..

also there is an aussie thread called land downunder which many aussie's go in and share info that they have found within their own visa journey...

LAND DOWNUNDER THREAD

good luck for your journey and i hopoe all works out for you an dyour fiance

take care
