Ok I know that the NVC assigns the Interview date for the CR1 visa, but my interview for the K-3 is on thursday in Montreal and the NVC has assigned a case number for the approved I-130 on April 10th. Could they cancel my K-3 visa interview if they recieve information from the NVC about the I-130? Oh please tell me I'M imagining things

if NVC has jsut recieved your approved petition, there is plenty to do before an interview. Check out the NVC Flowchart (Sticky at NVC forum) for info on that. You can still go through with the K3.

Umm Not quite sure what thats about but, no lying involved, I meant if the embassy receives the approved I-130 information and the cr1 cancels out the k-3. Nevermind, I found the answer to my question already

Thanks Germangel, that answered everthing(Flowchart) In the haste of finally having the interview date so close I had totally forgot just about everything I know about the CR1 since we are planning on doing the DORA AOS as soon as I get back with my K3

See I cant even post right tonight ;-)

They should not bring up anything on the CR1 when you interview since it has not completed and went to your consulate. Good luck.

later down the road, instead of AOS'ing you can go back to Mtl and do the cr-1 interview. Some people do that, some dont. cheers

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Nothing.

To the OP; why not have your concerns aired to the interviewer on Thursday? He can better answer your questions than us.

naaaa, don't worry. The approved I130 doesn't effect you at all because your K3 would only be cancelled out if 130 arrived at the embassy at the same time.

If you choose to go with AOS, you can simply call NVC and let them know or if they don't hear from you within one year, it simply cancels itself. There is however the option to come on K3 and continue CR1 while you are in the US and go back to your country for the interview. Since the petition is already approved, it might be faster than AOS and since your country is Canada and not at all problematic to return to you might wanna think of that.

I am going this path, so is Amanda and many others. So if you have questions about this, you can PM me any time.
