Dev, this is what you wrote:

Did I say that I wanted to? I'm pointing out it was a consensual relationship, age aside. To call it different now is a joke. And to offer him a visa now is even more ridiculous.

However, if that's not what you meant...

I am not trying to be sarcastic here either...just wondering why returning to the US is nessessary to get justice for him. Can she not be punished in Mexico for sexual abuse - maybe kidnapping too? Is it legal there or something? Does he not have family there to look out for his interests? I am all for stopping a kid from being abused if he is, but I really don't get the visa part. Seems to me that if a Mexican citizen is in Mexico getting victimized by anyone, local officials should get all over it. Also seems to me that their relationship is probably evidenced enough without the boy's presense at this point so issuing a U visa would be unnessessary anyway. Just my thoughts.

The crime happened in the US, under US law. Mexican law has no jurisidication. If she broke Mexican law, she could be tried there as well.

I am sure the woman diddled him in Mexico since their arrival there...

another thought is how come it is so easy for anyone to register in school? How come this kid was even in a school here? Are USCs paying taxes so that anybody can go to school, regardless if they are here legally or not? Maybe that would help cut down illegal immigration, if there was not education readily available to anyone who walks in.... just a thought

you are probably right or they wouldn't be sending her back to NE. It just seems wrong that you take someones kid from Nebraska with out his parents consent (presumably), show up in another country with the kid...are you only a criminal at the location you picked up the kid? Wierd that you aren't guilty of anything at point B. Strange world.

You are implying that in this instance there is no crime by stating it's a joke. Clearly, the sex is with a minor so it's a crime regardless. In other words your implication is that this particular sex crime is a joke. However, I don't see how you can make this exception, hence, I said "sex crimes are not a joke."

Are you following my logic here?

Not necessarily the kids... but if a parent is desparate enough, they may come up with something inappropriate and ask the child to go along with it... I have heard of that happening before.. even for other reasons. Most children want to make momma and daddy happy...
