I was asked for a tax return at the interview.

Packet 3 asks for us to supply a copy of last years' tax return as well as a copy of the W-2s.

I'm actually kind of glad that its taking so long to receive an NOA2. Sounds strange, in a way. but it will allow me to use 2007 as my "Last year's tax returns". As 2007 was much better for me than 2006. And as long as her interview isnt before the end of January, my 2007 tax returns will be perfect.

My guess would be pretty much everyone, as it appears most utilize the income approach to meet the requirement rather than assets alone...

Im the same way, the wait made it possible to afford the trip to go to the interview as well as provide a years worth of income.

depends on the country you are going with. for us everyone on vj said to bring the last three years, but we did and they didnt ask for a single one.

Hi Bob and Dora,

I got the last three years of tax transcripts (free from IRS, takes about a week) and my 2006 1040. You could try contacting the embassy and see what they say. I emailed the embassy in Bucharest and they said all I needed was a letter from my employer and my last year's return. I'm the overly-cautious type so I sent in the transcripts, 2006 tax return, letter from my employer, bank statement and all my paystubs for 2007.
