From what I understand, most people do NOT get that stamp, though it was common to get it in the past. Maybe others have more knowledgeable comments... :unsure:

May 25, 2007: USA Arrival! EAD at JFK
June 15, 2007: Married
AOS (Adjustment of Status)
June 21, 2007: AOS/EAD Submitted
Sept 18, 2007: AOS Interview - APPROVED!!
ROC (Removing of Conditions)
June 23, 2009: Sent in I-751 packet
Sept 11, 2009: APPROVED!!
Sept 18, 2009: Received 10-year Green Card!

Naturalization
July 15, 2010: Sent N-400 packet
July 23, 2010: NOA Notice date
Oct 15, 2010: Citizenship Interview - Passed!
Nov 15, 2010: Oath Ceremony in Fresno, CA
Nov 24, 2010: Did SSN and Applied for Passport
Dec 6, 2010: Passport Arrives
Dec 7, 2010: Sent for Indian Passport Surrender Certificate
Dec 27, 2010: Surrender Certificate Arrives
Jan 3, 2011: Sent for Overseas Citizenship of India Card
March 1, 2011: Received OCI card!

Divorce

Feb 2015:​ Found out he was cheating (prostitutes / escorts)

Following approval of the I-485, does everyone get a stamp in their passport?

(ie stamp of temporary evidence of I-551)

If not, why do some get it and others do not?

Is it neccessary to get this stamp?

Try to get one. If they screw up the paper work as they did ours it's nice to have.

Took them so long to fix it they sent a temporary I-551 good for one year.

As you can see we had to do biometrics 3 times to fix their screw ups.

Not very common anymore... because green card are being produced and mailed in about 1 week, so there really is no need for stamp.

I got the stamp in 2004, my daughter did not in 2006.

They don't give the stamp very often anymore, but used to give it all the time in the past.

The GC should arrive a week or so after the successful AOS interview.

Aug. 21/08... Interview - PASSED!!!!

Sept. 2/08... Oath Ceremony

Sept. 5/08... Sent in Voter Registration Card

Sept. 9/08... SSA office to change status to "U.S. citizen"

Feb. 22/06... AOS Interview - APPROVED!!!!! (Passport NOT stamped)

Dec. 4/07... I-751 sent to NSC

May 23/08... 10-Yr. PR Card arrives in the mail

Mar. 22/11.... N-400 sent to AZ

June 27/11..... Interview - PASSED!!!

July 12/11..... Oath Ceremony
