Hi all!

I am so hoping that someone can help me-- i am leaving for Egypt on Friday and want to take all of the information with me I will need to complete the affidavit of support. My fiance got his packet 3 last week and we want to go to the embassy together to turn this in. I have read a lot about what you need, but can anyone please clarify exactly what is needed? My income is above what it needs to be so that is not an issue. I have letters from my employers. Do I need a letter from my bank as well? Or can i just copy my bank statement? How many years of W2/1040 are needed? I am so nervous that I will forget something!! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you so much!

Yes, you need a letter from the bank. The form tells you exactly what needs to be in it - total of deposits in the past year my bank wouldn't put in the letter, but I just included a printout statement from the internet (you can search all deposits within last year) and the last 3 months of statements. But the letter from the bank took several days to get (had to have them fax it to me bc they wanted to send it in the mail) so I would do that as soon as possible.

The last W2/1040 is all it asks for I believe, but you can obtain them online easily for the last 3 years. Or if you saved a copy of the tax return you submitted that'll work too.

If you think you might need it, take it anyway and let him keep it just in case they ask for it later. Better safe than sorry IMO.

You also have to turn in the packet by DHL, can't drop it off at the embassy. But the stupid thing is - the only DHL office that will send packages to the US Embassy is acrosss the street

Check out this topic if you want to see what is in the packet b4 you get there:

Thank you so much for your information and fast response! I can't open the link :crying: I read your prior posts though about the packet 3 info-- is that what the link is to? That is so silly about the DHL and the embassy, although nothing surprises me anymore!! LOL And the letter from the bank is freaking me out a little, d/t the time crunch before i leave--- you need this even if your income meets the requirements?? (i am totally stressing now LOL)

Is it true that your interview is tomorrow?? Best of luck to you both!! I will be thinking about you! Laura :)

Thanks, it's tomorrow and we're having the slumberparty now :)

Try searching for the topic, I think it was 3 pages back or something, but that was the title  sorry, I've never tried to make that link before. I can always repost it for you tomorrow as well :)

And yes you need the letter from the bank, but don't stress yet - go in to the bank as early as possible tomorrow and see what they can do for you ;)

OMG!! How nice of you to take the time to reply! Thank you so much! I will pray that all is going well and ur sweety will be here soon!! I called the bank this morning and no problem with the letter. Can you go to a bank and have the affidavit notarized? Do you need more than one copy? Are there any other papers that need to be notarized? I am trying to breath slowly, but it is not working!! LOL Thanks again for your help!!
