Here is my timeline as of 01/03/2008:

10/26/2007 - Priority Date

10/26/2007 - Receipt date

Considering fast receipting of my N-400 application, it would be reasonable to expect the biometrics appointment notice to be issued already. But this has not happened. Strange, huh?

I assume the "Priority Date" is the date to use when looking on the US-CIS website for processing times?

Today I called USCIS and got both good news and bad news.

The bad news is that my application was ready to be sent to the local USCIS office, except that I am stuck in the FBI name check.

The good news is that the told me that they are going to go ahead and forward the application to the local office, and they will proceed when the name check is complete.

So now my progress is as follows:

10/10/2007 - Mailed N-400

10/12/2007 - Delivered to NSC

10/26/2007 - Priority Date

10/26/2007 - Receipt date

11/02/2007 - NOA receipt Notice Received

01/15/2008 - Called USCIS. FBI name check in progress. Application package forwarded to local USCIS office

They told me as soon as FBI name check is complete the local USCIS office will send me some appointment notice. I did not quite understand because of line noise, but I guess fingerprinting will be right after the name check.

On the other hand, I read that FBI uses fingerprints for the name check. I'm kind of confused. I did fingerprints for another application a while ago, maybe they used those fingerprints.

Our timeline is very similar, that's why I was wondering about the status of your case. I did, however, get fingerprinted on Jan 4th and haven't heard anything back yet (nor do I expect them to work so fast).

the 800 number is called here on forum "disinformation" line, they can state and promise various things but you need to check with other sources too

i think they just told you that to just let you know that case is processed and pending, and that cases are generally due a FBI check and then generally go to local office, but i dont think phone reps have idea where exactly your case is or how close to any of this procedures.

but local office and interview are different line of events then fingerprints and fbi clearance, they can happen simultaneously and sometimes local office approved you and FBI pends for months after interview.
