The only thing I can imagine bringing back from Canada is the Ketchup Chips and Harvey's Hamburgers (The restraunt). Everything else I could easily pass on since I never liked them to begin with.

Oh and I have never noticed a difference between Kraft dinner here and Kraft dinner in Canada. Taste the same to me, but then again I don't put any weird stuff on it either.

I know I've heard people putting ketchup on it (gag) and my one friend used to make it with saurkraut (gag). Is there any other bizzare things people have put on their Kraft dinner? Only extra I add is just some salt and that's all (oh and I use a small bit of soy milk because I like my Kraft dinner on the drier side)...

trust me I am basically a KD connoisseur and there is a difference..

have you ever tried it with Ketchup?? :P:whistle:

You need to ask someone in Canada to send you some MarilynP! I FEEL for you!

Until then....

i am just worried that it would break in route and cheese whiz would get everywhere

I think a friend got me to try a small spoon full once and well that was enough to realize that was too gross. I liked it as much as the time I tried vinegar on a french fry, who I think the same friend got me to try as well another time. I just don't get it, but I know the vinegar thing is a big British tradition I remember from being there as a kid...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

What can you and can't you take??

I want to take my fave cereal and some cookie dough and other random stuff I have..

Is this going to get tossed??

Generally, the only issues with food are usually with meats, fruits and vegetables. Restrictions may also vary by state/province, ie, can't bring US apples if you are crossing at a BC border but if you cross at a Manitoba border it's fine. Beef is a big no no into the US as well as citrus fruit. Chicken or poulty products have kind of been back and forth on whether or not they are allowed into the US, due to the Avian flu. Dry goods (cereal, snacks, etc) are generally fine and not to worry about. Best bet is if you are worried about bring a big stash (and I'm referring to food here) of something back give the port a call to confirm it's ok. Meat and produce restrictions for both US and Canada can change daily based on what disease, pest, or contamination has popped up recently in the food supply.

If you get car sick, bring Gravol. They don't sell it in the States.
Gravol is called Dramamine in the US.

I'll need to bring cases of Alpha Ghetti for my daugther, and Cadbury's chocolate...lol

mmmm, I loved alphagetti even as an adult  ....

one of my favourite comfort food meals was alphagetti and a lightly toasted bagel with cheese whiz  YUM!! YUM!!!

i want some now!!

the cheese whiz down here tastes more like nacho dip .. yuck!!

I really should have brought some back with me last time I was there but I figured the big tin of hienz Ketchup was enough for my suitcase to handle ..

I brought Alphagetti and Cheese Whiz back from Canada last night! Along with a whole pile of other items... Maltesers, KitKats, Aero, fibre bread, malt bread, herb & garlic cream cheese, bacon, pepperettes... I had to borrow an extra suitcase off my Mom.

But I did a silly thing. I left my winter coat and wool sweaters there (in Canada) because we're going back for Christmas. Except I forgot that we're going to Denver in 2 weeks so now I have to go shopping for winter clothes again. Which is doubly ironic because I live in Florida and have no need for winter clothes.:help:

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Harvey's! I have been to Harvey's during a few visits to Ontario when I lived in Saskatchewan (they didn't have Harvey's there). I love their onion rings and burgers. Don't think I've tasted a burger like Harvey's here in the US. Unless I make them myself.

Since we live fairly close to the Quebec border, hubby and I make road trips all the time to get his favorite junk foods. Never had a problem bringing dry goods ... and have brought fairly large quantities.

I have a question: does anyone know if ketchup chips have any of the following food colorings: blue 1, blue 2, green 3, red 3 or yellow 6? We are heading to Vancouver next week and I am DYING for some chips, but being preggie, I have to avoid those colorings.

Someone mentioned Buckley's....I actually saw a commercial down here (in Virginia) for Buckley's just the other day!

I did a double take.

Basically, it's like the typical humourous Buckley's commercial. A guy is sitting at a table blindfolded with a glass of Buckley's and an 'unknown' substance with the caption reading in front of it "mysterious puddle from public restroom" The guy drinks the Buckley's and says "It tastes the same to me!"

I nearly fell off the couch laughing.

Buckley's. It tastes awful and it works!

I'll have to look for it down here now.

I don't know but considering the color and taste I would venture to say it probably has ALL of those
