I have used the James Shortcut to produce the Barcode for the DS-230 Cover sheet (the one with blue Statue of Liberty picture on the upper left corner of the letter). I have also completed the DS-230 and had my spouse sign Part I. So I am almost ready to send it in. I need to put the right date on the cover letter in the upper right corner of the letter, and in order to know the date, I guess the NVC automated system tells me when the DS-230 was generated? Is that how I would know what date to put in?

Here is the link to the DS-230 cover sheet: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ost&id=3936

Also:

1) When filling in the names of agent, petitioner and beneficiary on this letter, do you put all CAP letters? Or normal type?

2) When sending in necessary documents along with DS-230 (Marriage cert, birth cert + translations, copy of passport bio page, police cert with translation etc..), is there anything else that I need to send in with these? I have read here people talk about "Checklist" where NVC automated message mentions that - what is that all about?? Is there another page that I'm supposed to prepare and send in, a checklist of some kind? I just want to make sure that when I produce DS-230 letter and barcode to save time, I am not missing anything and get dinged by NVC....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

That link has an error so that no website appears. Could you provide it again? Thanks!

It should say what day the document was sent out, if not you can always speak to an operator and ask them when it was issued.

A Checklist is a request for further information (also called an RFE).

What some people do is include a cover sheet with the DS-230 - so basically a short note listing everything you have included with the DS-230. It is also a good idea to photocopy the entire package - letters and documents. Good luck!

Below is a copy of an 'actual' DS-230 letter:

Hi--sorry, but there are still errors appearing. All I get is a blank page. I just want to make sure that I am using the latest version of the shortcuts so that we can finish this endless process.

Thanks!

I can open the link with no problem, have you got Microsoft Word on your computer - or some other file association for .doc ?

At the top of this forum is a link called Time Savers for NVC, plus Knowing your Case # Click on that and go to page 11 of the thread to get Version 2 of the DS-230 cover sheet.

Cheers

So when filling in the names of the petitioner and beneficiary on the Coversheet, as you illustrate in the sample pic of letter, you write the names in ALL CAPS (First Middle Last Name), correct? Can you please confirm this?

Thanks!

Hi trekkin,

Yes the name was in all caps as displayed.

Thanks. Are the names within the body of the letter in BOLD type, as you have indicated in your scanned example? Or are they not Bold??

Appreciate the feedback.
