I-131 Question

My husband, our son, and I would like to travel to my husband's home country, England, next year for our son to meet his family.

We have just been married, and are attempting to file the I-131 (Application for Travel Document) along with the I-485 (Adjustment of Status).

I think we should choose "Advance Parole" on the I-131, but some of the wording has indicated that "Advance Parole" is for emergencies only. Are we not able to travel outside the US for a general family visit before the I-485 is approved?

If we CAN travel outside the US for a general family visit before the I-485 is approved, do we HAVE to specify the dates of travel on the I-131 now?

AP is for travel while waiting for AOS to complete, just indicate exactly what you indicated in this post.

"My husband, our son, and I would like to travel to my husband's home country, England, next year for our son to meet his family." is a good enough reason for AP.

No specific dates need to be indicated either.

So we should definitely request Advance Parole and not a Reentry Permit?

AP is for NON-Immigrants like K-1 waiting for status adjustment,

RE-Entry permit is for Green-card holders planing on leaving the USA for more than 1 year but less than 2 years.
