I am in process with my I-130 Petition - I have just sent along the $380 for my IV Bill to NVC, and awaiting the DS-230 process...For Syria, seems like the civil authority provides one with what's called a "Civil Record" in place of what's called a Birth Certificate (B.C.)....It contains all kinds of information like birthdate, place of birth, mother's and father's name, date of registry, and even includes that the person is Married...

So my question is, I know that NVC asks for Birth Certificate, but apparently in Syria they don't call it that, instead they release the Civil Record as described above...do you guys think this will be acceptable to NVC, or might it generate a response from NVC that they need specifically the Birth Cert., and delay my case? Would they understand that, or give me an RFE?? Or would it help to write them a little brief letter to explain this so that they know this is what is considered a B.C. in Syria??

Please if anyone on here can help that would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Make sure it is translated into English.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Yes it is translated into English, with a sworn statement from the certified translation service...I just hope that they accept it and don't make things complicated for me. It does contain everything that a 'birth certificate' contains, so they should accept it, but hopefully when I write a letter to explain, they will get the gist of it and accept without delays to my case...
