First of all: My partner is flying into the country today!!! Yay! *bounces off the walls*

Ahem. Now that that's out of my system, I actually do have a question. I'm trying to put my ducks in a row for his AOS and I see that we have to bring evidence of our relationship to the interview. The guide mentions a few, but lots of them don't really apply to us (for example, the shared mortgage - I own my home outright) so I was wondering if people could give me suggestions of what to prepare. The guide mentions photos (of what?) and joint accounts (we weren't planning on setting one up, should we? Is a savings account acceptable?). What else have people used as evidence for their interviews?

Thanks in advance :) Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go bounce around the house for a few hours before I go to the airport.

Forget roses and chocolates; when you've found someone who will do government paperwork for you - that's love!

We brought the following to our AOS interview:

1. Copies of joint checking account statements

2. Copies of utility bills in both our names

3. Wedding pictures

4. A box of cards and correspondence we received at our wedding and through the mail

5. Copies of e-mails from family and friends in both the US and Singapore

In the end, the AO who conducted our interview took only a couple of pieces of mail. And we had totally forgotten to ask him if he wanted to look at the 3 boxes of stuff we had brought with us to the interview.

I think they just want u married and settled down within 90 days. The tough ones are the K3 AOS, even though we've been married for 5 months we're hard pressed to provide all that proof from 10,000 miles distant lol

Congrats btw....

If you can give them at least a couple of statements with both your names on them, they will be satisfied. Otherwise, they might wonder if you are a "real" couple. For most of the below, it just took a few phone calls and online requests to get things in both our names.

We brought the following paperwork with both our names on it to the interview: marriage certificate; utility bill; joint credit card (I just did an online request to add his name on my credit card, and he got the card within a week, then I called the bank requesting a statement that his name was added on the card); joint checking account (yes, it is a good idea to have this, and I would recommend getting one); apartment lease; photos of us together at the marriage, shopping, eating out, etc.; and notarized statements from two friends stating they regularly see us together, we are a committed couple etc.

Happy bouncing and happy reunion!!

You can also provide documents that prove you both live at the same address - driver's license, mail addressed to the both of you - even junk mail; joint membership cards in video plans, or things like Costco; family plan cell phone with both names listed; car insurance with both drivers listed; health insurance benefits listing beneficiary and spouse by name; wills listing both of you as spouse and heirs to each other; jointly filed income taxes if you have them when you file, things like that help.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
