I ask this becuase I just now found that in order to maintain LPR status, any male betwen the ages of 18 and 26 has to register for the Selective Service, which I'm very much against, and I know my finacee wouldn't want to do either.

The reason I ask at what point that would need to be done is: We'll probably be getting married about a month or two before he turns 27. If you have to register BEFORE you are approved for the greeencard, then he'd have to do that. If you register once it's been approved, then he'd be safe.

I believe it is usally automatic when you file the I-485. There is a section of the form that talks about selective service.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

:D thanks. I just had a look at the I-485, and saw this:

"If you are a male at least 18 years old, but not yet 26 years old, and required according to the Military Selective Service Act to register with the Selective Service System, USCIS will help you register."

So, the fact that he'll be 26 at the time of filing means that USCIS wont be forwarding his info to the selective service (which is what the form said it would do if he was younger than 26)?

You are correct.
