i don't believe this topic started on what religion he or she was (the original poster). furthermore, the comment of the woman being paid a dowry makes it sound like the woman is bartered and sold. i agree with the previous posters - if you are really a partner with the one you love, you help and support them however you can, regardless if they are a man or woman. i do, for some reason, feel a great deal of sympathy for the male half of your relationship, as it sounds like he won't get one finger raised to help him in a time of need. and btw, i'm not "muslime" either. snicker

Do they have ATMs in his town or in one that is accessable? I used my debit/ATM card in Egypt to withdraw money from my american account.

You could set up another account at the bank in his name, or in both your names, or heck, even just in your name. Send him the debit/ATM card and the pin number and he should be able to withdraw money (but don't send them in the same letter, because someone might steal it in the mail). Check to see what kind of fee your bank will charge for an overseas withdrawl though. I have Wells Fargo and they charged $5 for a withdrawl from a non wells fargo ATM machine.

dayum you send your fiancee money? its supposed to be the other way around.

I don't understand your logic...so it's ok the other way round??

Anyway...if you are a couple what does it matter whose money it is...sharing your life surely means that doesn't it?

in islam the man is suppose to take care of his wifes $$$$$$ needs. thats why he offers a dowry!

not the other way around! you dont be paying him money.

Anyway...if you are a couple what does it matter whose money it is...sharing your life surely means that doesn't it?

yes.. the real relationships that prevail are the ones where there is mutual support, and not the expectations that ONE should ALWAYS pay up.

it is an expectaton he takes care of my needs sayes so on the marriage contract.

Oh here we go I knew religion would come into this.... I agree if you are a couple there is nothing wrong with the woman giving the man money and vise verce... this is the year 2006 not the olden days and you shouldnt bring culture or religion into it - I am indian and yes my american fiance is white and I have in the past given him a large amount of money and after we get my visa and i move there i will be buying our home right off and in return he will be providing for us and supporting me while i sit at home and make a home for us... absolutly nothing wrong with it - IF YOU dont believe a woman should help her man that is your opnion but there is no need to slander any other who wish differently. Marriage is a joint effort so get over it if the OP does things differently to you.

It would be interesting to have a polite conversation on another thread on the issues that arrise when people marry partners from third world countries. I know I've had issues with that, but I'm pretty sure we could all discuss it in a manner that doesn't evoke a cat fight.
