you know.. you guys.. she's attacked me on other posts as well.. that's why.. after my 3rd response to her.. I didn't even look to the thread anymore.. she ruined it.

Anyways, to the religion topic.. me and Yacine are not ####### follow-the-quran-and-the-hadith-down-to-the-T people. And if anyone claims they are perfect.. well.. they're just lying or in denial. There are plenty of muslims that I know that did not take a dowry. Do I slander them for not doing it ? No.. All the 3 major religions have aspects to them that people don't follow or people think are useless. Me and Yacine practice the larger moral picture : Respect of parents, praying 5 times a day, dressing conservatively (yes I wear hijab), engaging in community service (e.g. I have volunteered for meals on wheels, children's literacy programs, working at food donation banks, doing collection of items for care packages to send to troops overseas, adopt-a-highway), donating blood is a big one for me - I donate a unit of platelets and plasma every month (which is a painstaking 1 1/2 hour process) and every other month donating platelets plasma and red blood, giving zakat (like almsgiving, a certain percentage of your annual income goes to the poor), and many other aspects of our religion.

She boats being selfish, I doubt she has ever done any of the above.

We have no need for dowry considering that *I* could support myself if we were ever to get divorced. Don't need the money.. lol..

I don't need anyone criticizing the fact that I didn't have a dowry. I'm sure she hides a lot of things from SO's parents.. Does anyone think that coming from a traditional society, this man's family would accept the fact that she's been married that many times? If they know, and say they don't care, then they're not worried about your marriage, they're worried about their son's green card. Do you think her SO would be proud for the fact that she is spewing cuss words and hate towards people in a public forum? Honestly, anyone who has been through 4 marriages has no right to call someone out on their morals/religious beliefs.

And the most ironic thing is that she claimed that my SO is lazy, and that another person's mexican SO is lazy, yet she proudly boasts the fact that she is on the internet when she should be working... now if that isn't lazy I don't know what is..

In the ME forum ICY was slaming this lady< Leila > for getting a DENIAL. ICY claimed its because she is jewish. I have never ever slamed anyone forgetting a denial, I never ever added salt to any one denial wounds. any one going thought the DENIAL process. all i ever did was offer good support and advise. you all hate me fine! but know the story here! how would you feel if you got denied??? would want to know how to get out of that situation ??? you would not like some one insulting you!!! well my sweeties thats what this ICY did. it was not nice of her it was not cute!!! suppose gimmy was right KARMA. thats why I reacted to ICY the way I did!!!

so there is nothing about this I am jealous of:

My first reaction was: you do NOT need to justify anything about what/how you do your thing, and you don't need to answer her accusations to you.

But, you paint a beautiful picture. An alternate view of how things can be! Imagine if we all thought Shon was a paragon of a Muslim woman, or of an American woman, or of someone who marries a foreign man. I'd rather not get clumped in, know what I mean?

I'm sure there are as many different types of Muslims are there are any other ginormous group and that there is no One Way. Your post seems to confirm that.

I send money by using ZOOM.COM ........... not to bad a price and lots of places to pick up ......Tried the ATM card and she always was forgetting the pin number .........I am going to check in with my bank to set up a account over there and see if that is easier ........

Of course there is NOTHING wrong with you sending your SO money to help out. That is what marriage is all about, sharing and working together to create a better life for the both of you. I can't believe how ignorant Shon is about real life. Real life is at times a struggle and you do what you can to get through it as well as you can. She's insulted me and many others by informing us that because we miss certain things about our own countries that we are ungrateful and we have no right to feel such things. Of course, her husband wont miss his family or home for one minute ever!!! (Sarcasm)

Regarding the money situation, I wonder if you could get a check issued in Algerian currency to send to him? I know you can do this in America for Pounds Sterling and you pay the fee at this end and there is no charge in the foreign country for paying it into the bank account. I don't know if this is even a possibility for your situation, but might be worth a look.

Regarding the Shon situation.....I thought it was illegal or going to be made illegal to sponsor so many people? I thought I read somewhere that you do or will get to only sponsor 1 spouse/fiance(e)? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

This thread is unbelievable My only comment is this...people in glass houses should not throw rocks. We are all here for the same purpose. If someone chooses to send money to their partner that is their choice. It is true that the man must pay a dowry to marry a woman in muslim society, however the size of that dowry is what the BRIDE wants it to be. I'd also like to point out that in Middle Eastern Culture, its the man that should travel to woman to ask for her hand in Marriage. Since it's obvious that none of our fiances/husbands were able to do that then that means that Shonjaved also flew half way across the world for her man too.

In reading this thread, I could not help thinking how much Shonjaved pointed out her Dowry which is used if the marriage ends in divorce. Planning ahead?
