A few questions....

- What kind of bathing suit do you guys wear when going to the beach (or swimming pool)??

- Did you have to adjust to American style when moving to the US or it's the same??

Being from Brazil I usually wear a small bikini (sometime I wear a 1 piece too but not so often... only when I'm having a bad day or when the occasion asks for something more classy), so I was wondering how different it'll be when I move to the US since even the small bikinis there have a different cut.

Thought it'd be interesting to ask! :star:

Just wanted to add that my bikinis are small but not micro

I wear what I wear in UK or in Spain where they are the norm - Lenny thinks the bottoms are a bit 'brief' for US styles (they don't fit my butt like panties might - kinda just the middle bit so you can see some cheek, but they arent thongs lol)..and apparently they got some 'looks' at the aquapark (I dunno why tho - they are far from thong-brief..).

Whatever tho - I don't care I wear what I feel comfy in - my bikinis and bathers aren't porno-like, and altho its a big pain I don't go topless Stateside (OK maybe I *have* a few times, but always on empty-ish beaches) so I see no reason to change - if they a 'bit brief for US styles' thats just too bad

Funny you ask, as it's something I noticed as well ... Before arriving in the U.S, the last thing I was thinking about was whether my swim suit style would be still 'adequate' in here. I should mention that my usual style was verrrrry minimal coverage :D (mostly topless lol I couldn't even find my bra-tops when I was packing ) ... with lowww-rise thong bottoms.

Well, lemme tell you that when we first went to the beach in here (we live in "wild", sunny California too, btw), I was literally the ONLY woman on the whole friggin' beach wearing thongs  Good thing I had the spirit to wear a bra too for that day (even if it was just a teeny-weeny triangle-cups one), or else me and my hubby might have ended up being arrested for obscenity on public grounds or something lol

It's weird but true ... americans are so much more conservative as regards swim-suit fashion than most of the europeans (no personal attack meant lol just an honest observation)

So now I renewed my wardrobe with a moderate coverage bottom (even though I end up ... errr... tucking it in to get more tan haha  )

I'll have to find out more about where the topless beaches are around here ...

I'll see if I can post a pic of my favorite bikinis here..... I just got home from the beach actually but won't post a picture of me in one

To be honest I don't really care if people think it's too small or whatever but it's good to know people from countries other than Brazil and the US think it's very different too. I first realized it was really that different when my aunt (who's married to an UCS and lives in the US) came for a visit and went to the beach with me wearing that bikini that covered almost everything!!

I'm gonna wear what I'm used to but at the same time I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable, specially Dave as he hates to draw attention, and I'm pretty sure there will be people looking differently at me :hehe: I guess I'll adjust a little without loosing my essence. :star:

 Actually I do have a few bathing suits that are bigger.... it looks like they're from the 40's, but they look cool and they're great to wear when you're trying to be stylish :P

God bless the Brazilians.....go on with your tiny suits!

 Thanks! hehe

Send pics, so we can give an informative answer!! just kidding!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Luis says puerto ricans wear small bikinis just like us brazilians, and yes, being to beaches there I noticed no difference from us in Rio. So I have no worries at all.

Also, Rosa Chá and Salinas have become good in US and their bikinis are getting a bit smaller as well.

Yeah this would work for me too.

Thinking of me in a bikini...I don't want to think about that, just a tad too curvy.

In a bikini and topless?? Parts of me might cause a car accident, but I fear other parts of me might cause a lunch accident :P

I'm way too old and too fat to ever contemplate wearing a bikini... I've seen them sold in extra-large sizes on Ebay but I wouldn't want to wear one. Mine's a very old but rather nice one-piece suit, but the bright young things out by the pool here seem to wear pretty skimpy bikinis without blinking an eye!

As a plus-sized woman my problem was finding a new suit that didn't have a 'modesty skirt' attached to it. I know I'm fat but I have legs darnit, and I honestly don't see how it looks better to cover my hips in a froufrou skirt when the rest of me's still sticking out underneath! I ended up with a skirted suit, but only because I couldn't find anything else that fit right. I'm still looking for a replacement!
