I made the poll about seeing status for your case online, and it's been a week since the biometrics for my husband and still no status showed up.

Well...he got a letter to go back for a new biometrics because his fingerprints were not readable by the FBI. He has to go Nov 17th. However, he felt the lady accepted poor quality shots of his fingerprints, and it took a little while to get them all done, but then she acted like it was fine. But now he has to go back. I looked at his fingers closely and his fingerprints are not very obvious on his fingers. It's always been a little of a problem. He has problems sometimes with the skin on his hands and for some reason he does not have obvious fingerprints. It works better with ink, not with the new technology that's supposed to be so great.

Anyone have problems with their actual fingerprints? I mean, what are we supposed to do if again they won't accept it. This time he is going to insist they are high enough quality before he is told he is done, and won't leave until they are acceptable. But still, what a pain. Why can't they use the fingerprints from his first biometrics in 2004?? Grr.

Aww geez Stina. I believe if the prints wind up unreadable ultimately, they will request local police reports as substitution. A few have reported the same thing. Good luck.

ETA: fingerprints expire every 15 months out of their storage system, which is the reason you have to take them again.

Well actually I have heard of this. I knew a woman who used to work at a place that had a fingerprint scan security system to access certain areas of the building. But the equipment couldn't read her fingerprints -- they were too faint or something. They had to make a special bypass just for her to use a key badge instead.

Hope his prints read this time.

Maybe have him soak in the tub for 10 or 12 hours before the appointment so the skin on his fingers shrivels up -- that'll leave a print for sure :P

Someone else here reported problems with the fingerprints. The tech is supposed to check all that before they let you go so maybe it was someone new.

I have the same problems with my fingerprints. I went back the second time this past Wednesday. They told me that you get three chances to do your fingerprints and if they are not satisfactory (i.e. unreadable), you will have to go get police clearance. That probably means getting a police report stating that you have not committed any crime in the last 5 years.

Good Luck!

Hubby is going to ask about the ink prints too if they have a problem at it next time.

I had those electronic scanning prints done back in 2004, when we did AOS. They had too take mine 3 times, all on the same day though. I never did fingerprints again when we Lifted conditions. I just had to fly back from Germany to California to attend Fresno offce at the time, too have just one index finger done the old fashined way, and sign a signature card for the new greencard. Thats before the rules changed for when you lived overseas..now, here you can get them done at the overseas UCIS office..

But the point is,..I only ever had the electronic scanning done once.

Awwwww sorry you're having such a hassle, S&S *hi, btw!!!* :)

We will have to do bios soon, and I will be SO frustrated if this happens to us. I don't know how far you have to go, perhaps far as well, but we are 4 1/2 hours one way for bios! So....if they mess up, it really messes US up! Plus, I just lost my job today :( so we can't afford to be traipsing back and forth!

At least you know what you need now and can just get that...but what a pain!

I see you are gettin' close to having your baby!!!! Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. :) Hope you're feeling well!!!! :) M.

Hi! :)

I am sure you won't have the problem, it seems rare. It's just weird since he did get fingerprints done before with the same fingers that all of the sudden are not working. Yeah hopefully it'll be fine now with the paperwork we send in. Oh the fingerprint place is only an hour away for us, yikes 4 1/2 hours!

Yep baby time is getting closer!! :) :)
