Wow I don't log on for a day or two and I miss so much! This new thread is so helpful. I haven't been in the running as long as some (such as MyHoney) but I'm also at my wits end. I applied for the I-130 in May and the I-129F in June.

I contacted my US Representative (not state rep) and his office was useless. They were very rude when I called for the third time wondering if they were even looking at my case (over a week after faxing over the privacy release form). The Price is Right was blaring in the background and they couldn't get me off the phone fast enough.

I contacted my Senator's office and they acted immediately but were told by VSC that I have to wait the six months. I didn't tell them that I was wondering why it's taking so long, my "issue" was that when my case was transfered from Missouri to Vermont it said "your case was transfered.. " on the website for two months before finally reading "your case is now pending.." I wanted to know if it was lost or if the receipt date would be considered June or September. They said it will be considered June, so I did get somewhat of a hopeful answer. The Senator's guy said he will be tracking the case but his hands are tied until the six months is over.

I have no problem suing those bloodsucking lazy ..... either. This is sheer hell. I have done everything I can think of short of sending an email to the president or the pope for prayers.

I really feel for all of you who have been in this longer. I know painfully well how much you regret each lost moment the gov't has stolen from you and your spouse.

The reason I don't log in everyday anymore is because I can't bear it.

I feel happy for those who got approvals, at least they are moving to another .. better.. level of hell. The whole thing is just painful.

Everyday that passes is another day my son grows without his father. It's another day my husband is bitten by a malaria infested mosquito. Another day the cops harrass and terrorize him for bribes. We've missed so much of each other's lives. We, all of us in here, are longing for the day when we live as a family with our family. The anger grows and the hope wanes.

My question is, what will come of suing them? Will that push them into taking our cases out of some beat up cardboard box collecting dust on a shelf?

RFE is request for evidence. If an adjudicator feels that more information or evidence is needed for you petition to be adjudicated, s/he will issue you an RFE for the evidence needed.

I am also curious what's the RFE?

Simply, what has become known as the "RFE trick" is to call the USCIS customer service number, then follow the prompts that say that you received a request from USCIS that you do not understand to get out of the automated system and not get to a plain old call center CSR1, but have your call transfered to the actual service center where your petition is. There, a more knowledgeable person will answer the phone and can give you info about your case. The CSR1 will essentially tell you what you see on the CRIS website, and offer little else other than perhaps speculation. The person at the service center will actually look up your petitions, can tell you if it has been assigned to an adjudicator or not, if an RFE has actually been generated/sent, if the petition has been approved, etc. This will (barring computer system glitches will generate a touch, where a regular call to a CSR1 will not.

The "trick" is not that it helps you get your approval sooner, or get to an adjudicator sooner, but that it gets you to a person who can actually give you info if there is some to give (in My Honey's case, she got an RFE faxed to her instead of having to wait for snail mail). The "trick" was used by some late Feb and March filers to find out they were approved when there was a computer glitch over the summer that kept the system from being updated (similar to what appears to be happening now) and before they got the snail mail. When 1 got through and found they were approved, a bunch of people who applied around the same time followed the same path within the next few days/weeks, and the RFE trick was coined.

I found an explanation of the RFE Trick in this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;hl=RFE+trick
