Progressive has great coverage and is pretty cheap. I used them for 3 years until going on Sara's Statefarm policy.

Missed you Mephys! Have you been working? Maybe I missed that post??? Could have happened. I just figured out where all these "new" people were coming from that were having interviews. New, because I'd not seen their posts before. I guess I've (duh!) not been reading the Mtl interview thread...I went through Vancouver, and I always thought that that was just a thread for people wanting to be put in a timeline for Montreal. Anyway, I looked at it the other day, and lo and behold there were VJ names on there that I'd never seen before! So...sorry for not having seen your names before, or knowing your stories....I know it's my fault, but if the only posts, or most of them are on that thread, then everyone doesn't get to know you better through your posts!

Welcome back Mephys wherever you've been!

Yeah, It's not that I am not around anymore, but some days when I look and there is like 10 new threads of people getting approved and all, I don't have time to go through everyone of them and reply, specially when there is already 25 replies :P

All I have been doing lately is job searching...and it sucks. It's either the job would be a good match for me but I am not certified in Illinois so they don't want me ( I guess they don't hire based on the experience like they do in Canada) or I find a job where people barely have their high school diploma and learned on the job, and they want to give me the same rate they have, too close to the minimum wage IMO. Got nothing agaisnt that, but with a degree and 6+ years of experience I expect a little more. Or that one place that wanted to hire me and be willing to let me do the license while I am in training there, and they have make me wait 7 weeks and they got no answer yet....like make your mind people... Just a note for people with college degrees, everybody in the USA needs licenses from their state. Even my stylist got one. No matter what kind of profession you do, most of them requires a license. I guess it's another way for the government to pay for the war or something. So if you need one, look into it cause there is only 2 exams/year in average. January and June. And now it's too late to apply for January.

Ok that was my rant of the day

But life is good and having my husband by my side makes up for it all!!! :luv:

Mephys, Joel can certainly commiserate with you on the job thing. He has a degree too, and experience to boot but has that helped him so far? NOPE. He has a job, definately not doing what he's trained to do (Computer/Network Administration) but at least it's a job. He's volunteered for the school system's technology department here but no openings...at least not yet. Thankfully they were VERY impressed with him so there's hope yet. Still, some find it easy to break into the working environment here and some don't. I think there should be something out there to help new immigrants find work related to what they've done and experience SHOULD count.

Hope you find something soon...I can only imagine how disheartening it is. *hugs*
