For what it's worth, I don't think Gary is a xenophobe. He wants action on a tough issue. I understand that, even though I personally can't see how anyone expects a democracy to take some of the actions proposed.

All I want is our laws enforced. If that was done we wouldn't have the problem we have today. We don't need new laws or an immigration overhaul. All we need is the laws enforced. If they were illegals wouldn't be able to find work and they would go home on their own.

We've been here before, but do you not think that perhaps the reason why the immigration laws aren't enforced to a point where this will make a big differece is because there isn't the budget to do so?

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

No, it has been blocked by both sides over the last 20 years. That is going to change next year. Illegal aliens and the problems associated with them are now on the front burner. Anyone that runs on a hard line stance will win IMO. We need a clean sweep of Washington. Illegal aliens and terrorism will be very important this time around.

I am not totally convinced that the average US voter is has immigration quite so far up it's list of candidate selection critieria. Terrorism, in association with the Iraq war, much more likely.

So, for 20 years the House and the president have stalled over creating the necessary budget provisions for implementing effective policy on this issue.? What makes you so sure that the GOP is going to unite around this issue now? I realise that there are many here on this forum who have strong views on this subject, but again, amongst the wider population, is it really something people think about that often? (Notwithstanding those who live in border states, of course)
