A Libertarian's Take on Immigration

Steven is just trying to be polarizing by trying to pin sh!t on republicans. The bottom line is while the reps are not perfect when it comes to illegals they are vastly better than his beloved liberal/progressive types. He is just trying to drive a wedge is all. It isn't going to work though. We all know what the party of open borders and amnesty really is. And the few "republicans" that side with the amnesty types will not last long next year.

LOL...hardly, Gary. What I've proven (and you can look at the official Libertarian Party's stand on immigration) is that both the Libertarian Party or the Republican Party (both supporters of free market capitalism that you claim to also support), have had a long tradition of a more open immigration policy than your viewpoint.

Nice try to marginalize my viewpoint as on the fringe when the reality is, your hardline stance on immigration is the one that is way out from political ideologies of all major parties. ;)

My stance is one shared by a majority of Americans. You cannot claim otherwise with any credibility. The republican party is closer to what most people want but has been getting away with backsliding for a while now. That is changing. We have found our voices and any rep that wants to stay in office will change. The dem party is the one of open borders and amnesty and as far most Americans are concerned you and people with your viewpoint are marginalized. All your doing is trying to make yourself feel less in the margin.

The facts do not say it no matter how much you want them to. The American people are not in favor of amnesty. I don't understand why you cant see that.

Green-eyed girl, I love your Rose "I LOVE YOU" signature. Turn me on to that tool. How can I do that???

Thanks, Boblop

Libertarian = liberal, and a liberal is a conservative who hasn't been mugged yet.

I want my signature to be as follows: Boblop

Thanks, Boblop ....I mean, to use the rose at the end of my posts, not my signing in signature.

Guys, guys, guys. Illegals will get green cards. A fence will be built in a manner that ensures its ineffectiveness. Employers will be sanctioned in a manner that creates only a slight disincentive to hiring illegals. In the next 100 years, we will have our first Hispanic president and his/her ancestors will have migrated here illegally.

Those are the facts. Everything else is just spitting in the wind.

Can I have an amen?

Gary, while you and everyone else is entitled to their approach on immigration, I'm not going to sit idle and let you try to marginalize anyone who doesn't support your rigid view on immigration. The Libertarian Party stance and Republican Party stance hasn't reflected that view for the last 40 years. While I admire your #######, I think your insistence on believing your viewpoint is popular and any deviation of it is marginal is exposing the extremism of your ideology.

Must you post 50 zillion topic related threads all the time, Steven? Can't this be consolidated?

It's a public forum. He can say whatever he wants.

Of course he can...when did I say otherwise, rebeccajo??? It just seems a curious practice since we have a grillion illegal threads already.

It always winds up being the same discussion in every illegal thread...at best it's a facet of the same discussion....so the seperation seems counterproductive to me...

The way I see it, you're doing a reverse marginalizing....'you're a republican, they think this, so you can't possibly think that because that's not what a republican believes.' Political opinions are not like a checklist 'oh thanks for joining the repub/dem party...here's your checklist of beliefs you must adhere to'

It's bollocks.

His viewpoint IS popular...and transcends party lines...otherwise, that immi reform wouldn't have died the way it did ;)
