Hey Guys,

I am in the process of resubmitting my I-485 application packet (got rejected for a number of reasons) and am a bit confused when it comes to the Medical Examination. I came here on an F-1 visa and have been in the US since May 2007.

Given that I did not enter on a K type visa does this mean that I will have to undergo a physical exam?

I have medical records showing my immunity for most if not all of the required vaccinations going back about 8 years (i.e. MMR, tetanus etc), I also had a TB skin test about 5 years ago and had an HIV test as well as syphilis test about a month ago for which I can also provide evidence. With this information can I get a Civil surgeon to fill out the I-693A form for me and send that along with my application instead of getting a full exam?

I was also thinking about going down to my local health department and getting some stuff out the way as they are cheaper there (tetanus and TB skin test). Is this a good idea?

Thanks,

You will have to go to a civil surgeon and have medical exam, there is a list on the web somewhere of them and in what area and their numbers just do a search for US civil surgeons. Good luck.

You'll need to do a full medical examination as you didn't come in on a K visa. Even if you provide evidence towards getting any of the screenings that the civil surgeon is required to perform, it is highly possible that the civil surgeon may not accept it and redo the tests, as they are not current nor were they performed by the civil surgeon himself. The only things that can be done beforehand are the vaccinations which are required for your age group.
