Hi all,

My financee just noticed a small typo with her birth-month on our marriage certificate as we were getting our AOS application packet ready... We inquired about getting the typo fixed at the marriage office but we were told that the correction would need to happen at the State records office and that it would probably take a couple months processing... We are going to send the marriage certificate as it is now, but I'm afraid it will cause a delay if USCIS notices the discrepancy. How big a deal is this? Should we point out the error in the cover letter or don't mention it at all? We plan on getting the correction done in either case.

Thanks in advance!

Go ahead and file using the marriage certificate you have now. Like rebeccajo said, have it corrected, though. Who knows, USCIS won't notice it at all. Otherwise, they might send you an RFE for it, which hopefully, you have the corrected copy to send back to them by that time.

Good luck!
